If you're planning on paying ransom to Somali pirates -- assuming your daughter is able to reach them by phone, that is -- you better bring the right kind of bills.

Kenyan sailor Athman Said Mangore, who was held captive for more than 120 days by Somali pirates, says they are known to make many demands and put in place a number of restrictions.

"They sometimes say they want $208,000 exactly in $100 bills only," he says.

Dear President Obama,

Disband Blackwater, similar groups and all their subsidiaries.

13 pirates x $16,000 each = $208,000
or
26 pirates x $8,000 each = $208,000

Sometimes it's not as strange as you think. These were originally just simple fisherman after all.

Mercenaries versus Pirates. The Pirates are probably more honest in their cruelty and violence than the jackbooted, silver coin sucking, christian murderers and torturers, so I root for the Pirates in this match up.

Why can't we metaphorically teach these men to fish (no religious allusion, instead nutrition) rather than condescendingly disrespectfully giggling at them until they really piss us off and we demand their deaths in knee jerk fashion?

Well, ironically, therein lies the issue. ;-)

Fishing--and foreign countries invading their waters illegally to fish...

And yes, Go Pirates! ;-)

Nothing like getting a little sympathy generated for islamosfacists and thugs on on the high seas. Most of you people know nothing about Blackwater except for what you read on the DailyKos.

I have former military friends with Blackwater and other contract security outfits. I'd trust them with my life and that of my family. I can't say the same of some posters out here in la-la land whom I would not trust any further than I can spit.

Good for you, but DO NOT include me or anyone I know in your genorosity towards these well paid sport killers. You can enjoy the company of Pinochet's best on your own.

Anybody else here seen the documentary Iraq For Sale?

Anyway, thought it was strange how these pirates know so much about the ships and crew.
If you've ever been robbed, most of the time someone who has previously been inside your home/apartment is involved.
Wonder where the pirates get their information?

The lawless against the lawless.

Oh man. I feel sorry for any pirates that have the grave experience of going up against Black Water security.
