Bill Gates Open To Obama Administration Role

Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who is in Washington this week to press his foundation's education and global health agenda, said he is keeping an open mind about taking a role aiding the incoming Obama administration.

Asked in an interview yesterday with The Washington Post whether he would consider serving in the new administration, Gates left the door open.

"Certainly my full-time job is being chairman of the foundation," Gates said. "If there was some committee or pretty focused task where I could contribute, I'd be glad to consider that, and I hope that the things we've learned about education -- including the mistakes we've made -- I hope we do get a strong dialogue and I'm very optimistic we'll have that with these people."

Bill Gates is the last person I would want to see in an Obama white house. He hires low wage people from other countries consistently not to pay American wages, despite his billions. He stole "windows". I have little regard for Mr. Gates, and I know I'm not alone. NO BILL GATES!

I agree. He's left Microsoft, but his heart (and most of his stock) is still there. He's out campaigning for Microsoft while giving the illusion of being independent.

Did anyone notice the story about the mass worm outbreak at our largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan. It infected 75% of the computers there. And guess what the operating system for all those was? Yep... It's WINDOWS. NONE of the non-Windows machines were affected. To think... so much of our military is dependent upon computers that are so vulnerable.

I sure as heck don't want to entrust the security of the whole U.S. to Windows-running computers. So, no, I don't want to see Bill's undue influence over high-tech decisions. We need to get away from dependence upon only one company for virtually all programs.
