Bob Novak: I Would Out Valerie Plame Again

During a recent interview with the National Ledger, conservative columnist Robert Novak was asked if he would reveal Valerie Plame Wilson's secret CIA identity if he could go back and do it all over again. Novak noted that he has previously said he "should have ignored" what he had been told about Plame, but he now claims he is "much less ambivalent":

NOVAK: I'd go full speed ahead because of the hateful and beastly way in which my left-wing critics in the press and Congress tried to make a political affair out of it and tried to ruin me. My response now is this: The hell with you. They didn't ruin me. I have my faith, my family, and a good life. A lot of people love me -- or like me. So they failed. I would do the same thing over again because I don't think I hurt Valerie Plame whatsoever.

I love how Novak justifies his actions.

Because folks responded to his irresponsible yellow journalism with appropriate anger, he now doesn't regret outing Plame.

In other words, perhaps if we'd all been a little more respectful to him after he'd already committed the nearly treasonous act, he might feel some remorse for having put someone's life in danger and jeopardizing American Intelligence efforts in Iran.

The reality is actually far worst than stated.

Novak's treason wasn't simply to minorly inconvience the Wilson family. Novak's exposure of the Brewster Jennings & Associates CIA front destroyed an incredibly successful nuclear nonproliferation spy operation... and very likely lead to the deaths of any agents they had recruited over the nine years it had been active.

If there is ever an instance of nuclear terrorism, it's almost guaranteed we have Bob Novak and his Republican buddies to thank for it.
