Jane Fonda

NEW YORK — The date for Jane Fonda's return to Broadway after an absence of more than four decades has been set.

The actress will open March 9 in "33 Variations," a drama written and directed by Moises Kaufman. The play concerns a musicologist (played by Fonda) and her study of Beethoven's fascination with a particular piece of music.

Preview performances begin Feb. 9 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre for a 15-week run through May 24. Additional casting will be announced. Fonda was last on Broadway in 1963 in a revival of Eugene O'Neill's "Strange Interlude."

It should be an interesting show, although I'll probably never see it. Her trip to North Vietnam was an honorable act.

As a Nam vet I understand ElaineO - however, no matter how ya measure it she did apologize unlike has been rocker Ted Nugent who boasted to urinating and defecating in his pants to avoid serving back then. Now he capitalizes on his phony patriotism waving the flag 40 years later making as much as $30,000 a night preaching about the Constitution and patriotism. Or how about our deserter president and his 5 deferment VP both of whom had no problem killing over 4000 young Americans and seriously wounding nearly 25,000 more. Fonda was young and stupid, but in the end she and many others of her generation were right about the immorality of Vietnam.

How do you feel about Bill Clinton's avoiding the military?

Jane got "Dixie Chicked" because she opposed the Vietnam War. It was unfair. She is a beautiful, talented woman. I loved her apperance on the Colbert Report, sitting on his lap and flirting. It is the only time I have ever seen Colbert at a loss for words.

She should do a one woman rendition of On Golden Pond. The thought of her bouncing back and forth between Norman and Ethel would seem appropriate and unintentionally hilarious.

I hope her show closes on the first night. I have no use for her, never have and never will. Going to Hanoi, and sitting on a gun turret that was aimed at our own troops, and conducting a blood drive for North Vietnamese troops amounts to treason. Yeah, she's apologized. She apologizes every time she has a new book to promote. Her apologies don't mean squat to me or to my Vietnam Veteran husband. She doesn't mean them and only makes them because there's money involved. She could have found other, less offensive, less treasonous ways to protest the war. Everyone else did.

And yet Oliver North sold missiles to Iran and he gets his own TV show on Fox.

Ms. Fonda is one of the best actresses of her generation. Break a leg, Jane!

I've always been a fan, even though my war mongering Republican father hated her.

Break a leg, Jane!

Met Jane on a book signing. My camera took forever to work. She was so gracious and posed till the shutter worked.

She is an amazing human being.
