It was hard to miss the message that Barack Obama was sending with the powerful tableau lined up behind him onstage in Chicago. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions," the President-elect said of his national-security picks. The top three members of that team certainly fit the description. In Hillary Clinton, Obama is getting a Secretary of State who battled him to the bitter end of a Democratic primary season focused largely on the question of who was better equipped to be Commander in Chief. In bringing in retired Marine general James Jones as his National Security Adviser and retaining Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Obama is turning to two men who might have seemed more obvious choices had John McCain won the White House. And all three were on the opposite side from Obama on the defining foreign policy decision of the past decade: whether to invade Iraq.

"Hey man, where you been?"

"Crazy! I fell asleep in June and just woke up!! What's been happening??

"OH wow, well lets see..

...Obama was elected, Hillary Clinton is Secretary of State, the Global Economy has crumbled, Bush is nationalizing banks and auto companies, China is abandoning communism, India is blowing up, and the Canadian democracy lies entirely in the hands of one woman."

Formula for curing the problem of cabinet and others forgetting who is in charge. When Obama has someone that is a direct report such as Secretary or whatever, and that person is consistently disagreeable with policy and undermines the President, call that person in and tell that person it is time to clean out his or her desk. They serve at the will of the President.

Well well...Time magazine trying to get the foil hat wearers to set their collective hair on fire and scream that the sky is falling. Very entertaining and funny but the sad part is they won't even read the article or only read it looking for clues...

Let me get this straight was: Andrew Jackson, FDR, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Benjamin Disraeli, Woodrow Wilson, Henry Ford, John F. Hylan, Joseph Kennedy, Curtis Dall, James Warburg, Felix Frankfurter, William Fulbright, Henry Kissinger (dr.evil), JFK, and that's just off the top of my head. These guys all spoke about the men behind the curtains that really ran things and not the figure head that you are givien to quench your belief in "democracy", by the way, i love to hear uninformed people call America a democracy, when there is no where in the constitution that states that, The USA is a republic. Not to stray from my point, you can call me a conspiracy theorists, wing nut, tin foil, whatever you'd like, but these men mentioned above held some pretty high office and were privy to information majority of the public will never hear, i am guessing when they spoke of the elite cabal that run the world and its monetary supply and its plan for a NWO they were just uninformed wing nuts, some were killed or attempts on their lives were made for what they tried to do, but hey, what do they know, they are just conspiracy theorists.

Why do individuals swear this NWO thing is a conspiracy theory, it is a fact. I notice most individuals tend to dismiss this, either because they are naive or simply ignorant. I can list countless United States presidents that spoke of the shadow government that consists of the men with all the money, not to mention countless British prime ministers that spoke of the same elite bankers that really ran things. I mean, call me a conspiracy theorist if you'd like, but was benjamin Disraeli, Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, John F. Hylan, Joseph Kennedy, FDR, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Winston Churchill, and many others presidents, prime ministers and politicans conspiracy theorists as well. I guess the media dictates how people think, no longer do we think critically, we let the NY times, cnn, msnbc, fox, etc think for us, well, not us per se. Well, thank you time magazine for not hiding what obviously is in plain sight.

There is sort of an obvious contradiction running through this article. It states that this team looks more like MCain's National Security team than it does Obama but then it says that there is more emphasis on soft power and less emphasis on military so explain to me if there is less emphasis on military power how would this be more of a group for McCain than it would for Obama when McCain is the MOST HAWKISH candidate ever even more hawkish than Bush.

Its these little incongruent logic that BUGS me. What bugs me too is this incessant need to show that McCain would have done what Obama is doing. Oh really You mean McCain values COMPETENCE and DIVERSITY. McCain LOVES to surround himself with Strong intelligent personalities that disagree with him. I mean come on. McCain wouldnt even be the one to pick his own team. McCain is not a leader he is content to let other people do things for him. SO STOP insulting and belittling Obama by saying and implying McCain would have done the same

Time Magazine used the "New World Order" line to get your attention. It worked but are you
going to get hung up on the title of an article or are you going to do your part to bring about
the "New" way of doing things and getting the country in "Order?"

We are in good hands. A strong team with strong opinions led by a strong leader.
That's what we want and what we desperately need. Obama will listen and he will then
make the decisions he believes to be best. His team will carry out the mission.

For the past eight years it's been a team of yes men led by a leader that was not that
intelligent and who deferred to his VP for the decision making. We all see how that's
worked out. Cheney has done his best to look out for himself and his interests rather
than the interests of the American people and Bush has followed his lead.

I'm choosing to trust this team and our new president. Obama has shown himself to be a
man who surrounds himself with good, strong and trustworthy people and ran a campaign
that had few if any flaws. He'll not be perfect, but he has what it takes to move us in a
better direction and actually cares about the country and our place in the world.

It's so easy for the nay-sayers to second guess and criticize. It's much harder to
get behind our leaders and do our part to help make things better. Play an active
part in your government folks, make your voices heard through your congressmen,
volunteer your time locally, donate to causes that help others. Time for action instead
of reaction.

Nice job Time magazine, purposefully kicking the hornets nest of right wing conspiracy theorists for the fun of it with over the top headlines.

Despite the ridiculous and inflammatory "new world order" title, even the obviously biased text of this article couldn't help but point out that what Obama has actually done is surround himself with exactly the team that will will not only offer strength where he is weak, but will also competently carry the ideals (as opposed to ideologies) of America out into the world. It's about time we take our rightful place as one crucial piece of the jigsaw puzzle that makes up the modern world.

^^ Has head in the sand thinking that so-called experts from the same sources as BushCo experts will amount to any change.

They are expert criminals and expert propagandists. Nothing more.

Well, it can't be any worse than the "Old World Order" that the Bush Crime Family created.

GAWD, these people are such poor losers. The world is coming to the end because the Democrats are now in charge. But, if you ask the rest of the world, they will tell you that they are very reassured with Obama as President.

Time Magazine isn't even worthy of lining a bird cage.

Time, you certainly show your true colors with this article. You only wish. I'm sure all of you voted for the status-quo of the last 8 years.
