my prediction is that nothing will change. there will be another terror attack on india, and india will have to respond with military.
The response of the Indian people has been amazing. Instead of screaming for blood, the cry on the streets is for the government to get its act together. To take a line from Michelle Obama's book, for the first time I am REALLY proud of my country.
Catch Fareed's weekly Sunday current affairs show, Fareed Zakaria: GPS (Global Public Square) on CNN. It airs 1:00 PM Eastern and 10:00 AM Pacific. He brings on well-informed guests and asks intelligent questions. The recent (Nov. 16?) show with Stephen Cohen and Nicholas Burns on Russia's perception of NATO expansion was very informative. Ambassador Burns seemed unprepared to answer Professor Cohen's points. GPS is much more worthwhile viewing than Meet the Press.
fareed is very intelligent
There is more evidence that the Mumbai terrorists came from Pakistan than there was that Osama Bin Laden was behind 9/11.
But India should not make the same mistake as the US and should show more restraint.
Already Pakistan is falling apart as a nation. In a few years it will break up into 3 or more countries (like Yugoslavia) - a Pashtunistan, a Baluchistan, a Sind and a PakPunjab. If India takes any overt action, this would just unite the Pakistanis and delay the breakup.
Best thing is to let the US handle the terrorists and watch Pakistan fall to pieces on its own
Fareed , you are repeating same indian parody. How come Indian media start blaming Pakistan even before they arrested any terrorist. How about indian terrorism against Pakistan. This does not come to the surface again as we are busy fighting terrorism. Not all the bombing in Pakistan is by Taliban. There was bombing in Pakistan before Taliban and will be after aliban. Wonder who is the culprit.
the only solution to the pakistani problem is to break up that country. then these smaller states can war with each other (sunni vs shia, islam vs democracy, moderates vs extremists, taliban vs army, army vs civilians, etc.) and leave the rest of the world alone. it'll be like a little africa in asia which is fine as long as it's contained.
