Facebook: Obama Speechwriter Parties With Clinton Cutout

The Washington Post reports that Jon Favreau, chief speechwriter for President-elect Barack Obama, was caught partying with a cardboard cutout of Hillary Clinton in some interesting Facebook photos.

Asked about the photos, Favreau, who was recently appointed director of speechwriting for the White House, declined comment. A transition official said that Favreau had "reached out to Senator Clinton to offer an apology."

The Post adds that Clinton's team is taking the matter lightly. "Senator Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," said Clinton senior adviser Philippe Reines.

This is very banal.

Facebook is public, it's legal to look. But it's like looking into someone's parked car or at their computer screen, very rude and telling everybody about it is more rude. Now, if there's a child locked in the car or something, then that's different. He jokes with a cardboard cutout, so what?

Ok I know the picture looks sexist and it looks wrong. As a young guy, though gay, I do see it as being funny but totally innapropriate to put on a personal webpage. We all do things in our youth that we regret and I am positive that is most of us. So anyone who wants to act like an angel like you've never taken silly photos while drinking, come on! It will be the day when everyone acts overly serious about everything in life. I know I have taken some pictures while acting silly around nude statues so I am definitely not innocent!

High level Whiite House job. Vetted for unappropriate web assets, such as pictures like this, more than a year ago. Told such behavior was unacceptable when he was signed on during the campaign. Thought it was a good idea to pose for this pic recently. Favreau didn'y put it on Facebook. He wasn't that foolish. I bet. he thought the pic would just be a private snigger no one else would see. A "friend" upped it for him and made certain it was properly tagged so that it would inevtably come to the public's attention

HE reached out to Hillary to apologize? No...when his boss was informed, he called him and tore him a new one. Told him he needed to make it right and apologize. Count on that.

I think strong action by Obama against Jon is called for in this case. This deeply sexist act shows that no matter how smart or accomplished a women is, some men will always view them as sexual objects. There will no doubt be another mildly sexist act committed by him or one of his staff members that will begin to paint an unfavorable picture of Obama if he doesn't head this off.

Trust me, there are more women viewing Obama, or other powerful, attractive men, as "sexual objects", without taking anything away from the admiration for his intellect and position.
I'm sure he got an earful from his boss, but he apologized, and Hillary forgave and understood the lightheartedness of the silly moment. That should be that!

Somethings are just jokes. While the Hillary people don't really find it funny the Obama people do. The advice I give anyone with any political asperations, or asperations to work in public life. Take down you facebook page delete as much as possible, and honestly, stop taking friggin pictures of ANYTHING when you are drunk. As all designated drivers know, drunk people aren't anywhere near as funny as they think they are.

anecdote: a friend of a friend was in their final interview and the interviewer asked for their facebook and myspace pages. Both were set to private so the guy gave the info freely. Then the opened their laptop and went to the pages. The interviewer asked the person to use the computer and sign in to both private pages. The friend of a friend froze because they had crazy stuff on both. They signed in the interviewer looked at the pages asked some basic questions about them and said goodbye. Maybe that has been going on for awhile, I don't know I haven't interviewed in the last five years.
