I Like ItI Don’t Like It

From Sun Sentinel.com

It seems like only yesterday the Shiba Inu live puppy cam stole our hearts. Now, 8 weeks old, they are ready to venture out into the real world (and off line). Some of the puppies will be leaving this weekend.

To remember the precious time we've spent together, I compiled a few of my favorite moments over the past 8 weeks into a slide show. Please enjoy.

To everyone thinking about getting a pet this holiday season, I urge you to adopt a homeless animal before you purchase one. I have adopted two cats and two dogs from local shelters and rescues over the years. I can tell you first hand that even if you think you are getting a dog from a responsible local breeder, you are probably in for a shock at their practices and integrity.

We adopted one of our dogs last year from a local rescue organization. Ginny is a pedigree chocolate lab, a beautiful stocky 6 year old who was brought to a shelter by her owner/breeder with a male lab once he was done breeding her. She instantly bonded with our family, and is smart, housetrained, loving, and wonderful with children, people and other dogs. I cannot imagine ever just dumping a family member. Please...there are many dogs purebred and mutt ready to come home with you today. I hope the Obamas do the same!

You made me laugh out loud and I'm home sick covered with a blanket suffering from a severe mutated bug of some sort. I haven't laughed in three days - thank you.

If we are gonna try to be all classy-like and use the Japanese terms, let's use them correctly. It's "Shiba-ken", not "Shiba-Inu".

Nobody's trying to be all fancy-like by using the Japanese terms; it's simply the name of the breed according to the American Kennel Club.

Inu = dog
Ken = dog (in ancient Japanese)

I've been watching this on and off since I found it. Those are going to be great dogs. Kudos should go to the puppy parents that have been training them and socializing them. They've done an excellent job. How lucky the new parents are to be getting these great puppies. I sure will miss them.

Shiba's are really great dogs. I rescued a 2 .5 year old female this summer and she loves children, people and especially cats....and Foxy RARELY barks...what a great trait.

Thanks for this slide show. Somehow I never heard of the puppies until now, but the slide show and the music made my day. There is nothing so joyful as puppies, kitten, baby goats, lambs---and all other baby animals laughing and playing together and having warm, loving moments with mom. Smile!

I'm going to miss the puppies, I hope they have long, happy and very spoiled lives. The people raising them have done a good job getting them ready to be someone's much loved pets.

I would also like to see webcams in shelters to alert people just how many dogs (and cats) are waiting for new homes. I got my latest puppy from a dog transport I was doing, she was coming from Oklahoma and going to a rescue in Ohio. I had been scheduled to get a golden retriever puppy but when doing another transport I mananged to get several puppies that had parvo and that ended my hope of getting a young puppy. As it turned out it was the best thing, I did another transport a month later and as soon as I picked up a 12 week old puppy I knew she was the one I was looking for. So far she perfect, except for the paper shredding, shoe chewing, total lack of memory, etc... No really she's perfect.

I'm addicted to watching these sweet pups and their caregivers. This is a good lesson for everyone: do not buy from puppy mills or from puppy shops. The care and attention given these pups will make them wonderful and loving dogs. Kudos to the Shiba Inu family for their love, care and responsibility. Your web cam made my world a better place these past 7-8 weeks.

Like the idea on getting the cam into the animal shelter for the pure purpose of educating the viewers that too many animals are left to be killed because of over breeding. People may think twice about spending $1K on a pure breed, come to some senses and adopt! We adopted a 2 yr old mix and couldn't be happier - and we saved her life!!!!

Cute. Hopefully they will be spayed / neutered. How about a cam into animal shelters showing how many dogs and cats are waiting to get a forever home? Showing how 2 million animals are killed in shelters each year because they in fact don't find homes for them? Maybe that would turn people off from the idea of breeding their animals.
