Palin Stylist

Another day, another story about Palin's clothing and styling expenditures. On Wednesday it was the news of more spending on "accessories," as revealed in a new report filed with the Federal Elections Commission. Then on Thursday it was the story of another $55,000 in payments by the McCain campaign to Palin's hair and makeup stylists during the election's final weeks. And today it's the revelation of yet more spending on stylists, this time for Palin's "fashion stylist." The New York Times reports:

A woman who appears from campaign finance records to have been Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's fashion stylist was paid $54,900 by the Republican National Committee, according to a new report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

A charge for that amount to "Lisa Kline & Co." for "Consulting-Campaign" appears on Oct. 17 in the R.N.C.'s latest campaign finance report. Ms. Kline is a New York stylist whose name had previously appeared alongside some of the much ballyhooed $150,000 in charges for clothing and other "campaign accessories" from luxury stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

I'm surprised that no one is talking about how cheap it is for a man to run for office. Obama could just get a hair cut, shave, shower and steam his suit in a small hotel room just to get ready for a campaign event. They say Obama would only wear a few suits and a few pairs of shoes to campaign events. In contrast to the Republicans who spent so much on clothes and makeup (yeah, I saw John Mac getting his face on) I think the Democrats on average had more money to place on advertising, etc.

Sarah Palin is snubbing Oprah because there might be a chance that Oprah would like to talk to her also about THIS ("Babygate" - see today's blog from Andrew Sullivan) - and Sarah Palin is scared of this issue:

Here is what Cajun Boy has to say (a lifelong republican, by the way...):

All this doesn't matter to the Sister Sarah Cult nor to Sickness Sarah either. She'll ignore it or say it's a lie and so will her followers. Same old Same old Sister Sarah.

The GOP Empire is a clear present danger to democracy in America, therefore, we need a 24/7 watch on Sarah Palin. She is a serpent-like figure with a little help of expensive fashion a tele-pronto, and the GOP/FOX pants on fire machine.

I did not vote for the McCain/Palin ticket, nor do I consider SP qualified to hold national office but I am mystified as to why the amount of money spent on her clothes and her stylist should be considered newsworthy. I'm even more mystified as to why Bonnie Fuller writing about JA should also be considered newsworthy but I'm not going to add to that post's views by going there to either read the story or comment on it.

Watching all their TiVo time of the esteemed Governor. Over and over. Alone. Do they want to know that stylists had to be hired at $27,000/month to make her look like that? Noooooooo.

I wonder how many stylists in Real America make that kind of money? I wonder how many stylists in Real America still have a job? Is Gov. Palin in favor of a bailout for personal shoppers at Needless Mark-up? How 'bout the shampoo girls at Hair Butchery?

They should have spent it on a tutor to teach her American history and some geography.

This was one expensive trip! What do the rethugs say about all these trickle-out revelations? I think by now the tab for her has grown to over $350,000 - for a two month stint!

WTF? $55k for a few months of makeovers? Sounds like the people who made that hire are a bunch of idiots.

I remember that night. Sarah's demeanor was grave. Her body gestures and facial expressions devastated. She is in for a bloody battle. Pissed a few too many people off. Has a lot of questions
to be answered. You can only get away with owning the world for awhile then the ship sinks!

"My Unfair Lady" based on the classic "Pigmalion". In theaters Jan/2010. It'll take them that long to finalize the required budget.

I kept telling people that McCain-Higgins was trying to dress this woman up and fool people. I saw a picture of Palin that was taken in a Wasilla supermarket and I knew there was no way she could have coordinate the new outfits worn during the campaign. Eliza Doolittle could have done a better job showing some class and style. Also, the McCain-Higgins speech therapist failed, the Palin attitude was way off, and even the campaign staff was horriified with all shopping. Their little experiment failed but I hear they are willing to try again in four years. Good luck with that!! By then those conservative RNC folks will be watching every dime.

You'd think with all of that money, the pageant lady would get Lasik surgery so we wouldn't have to look at those awful glasses!

For $55k, one could probably get a boob job, facelift, tummy tuck and ass lift and have three months of makeovers thrown in for free!
