Not surprisingly, no one wants to live in the pricey Soho apartment in which Heath Ledger died, reports the NY Post:

THE rental listing of the SoHo apartment where Heath Ledger accidentally overdosed has been pulled without a taker willing to cough up $26,000 per month. The Post's Braden Keil reports the three-bedroom loft at 419 Broome St., which was officially relisted in late July after Ledger died there last January, couldn't attract a tenant - most likely because of its spooky provenance and a cooling high-end rental market. A Corcoran Group source would only say the 4,400-square-foot pad is "temporarily off the market."

Here is a photo of the building:

Newsflash: NO ONE can afford housing today.

Ledger is not hanging around that apartment, but I understand why it would make anyone uncomfortable.

Look at Paula Abdul. Someone committed suicide outside of her home and she doesn't want to live there anymore.

Oh, please. Given the sick and twisted society we live in today, with the overhyped emphasis wherever you go on the cult worship of celebs, I am absolutely sure there would be a ton of takers who'd want to live where their hero did or soak up the notoriety of living where a celeb died.

It's obvious the credit crunch is just depressing the market and anything else is sheer nonsense!

living in that apartment would be sad.

So many people miss him. I miss him. He gave us so much as an actor and human being.
I watched Brokeback Mt again the other night, and noticed things I hadn’t before in every scene. His acting in that film was more profound, touching, and powerful and than any other actor in any other film I have ever seen.

his spirit will always live on through his art and in the hearts and minds of everyone he gifted with his insightful portrayals of human life and death. His last performance as a mephistophelean archetype in The Dark Knight was awesome. Superb.

I think he was an angel who came to live among us for a short while to show us the meaning of the the Divine Drama of life on earth.

He was very special.

I've only seen him in Brokeback Mountain and honestly it is one of the best performances I've seen. He was amazing and I came away surprised as to how much I liked the movie.

He was outrageously, insanely, unsurpassably good in that film. Does anyone even remember who won the Oscar for Best Actor that year? Yet, we all remember Heath and that incandescent performance.

I know three guys who could afford this rent. They are in front of Congress asking for a bail out.

26K?

I have a feeling that is more of the reason than his death. Even well off people are not going that far out on a financial limb.

TWENTY SIX THOUSAND A MONTH?!!?!?!

That's $312,000 for a one year lease. I know this location, and it's not worth it.

In the Bay Area the market has slumped so much a house in San Pable can be bought for 95,000.

But, who'd want to live in San Pablo? Orinda, on the other hand........

I grew up in Orinda. In the era you could find homes under 1.5 million!

I stayed with a friend once, and his guest bedroom was the one in which his father had passed away. I could only stay for two nights and then I had to stay in a hotel. The place had an atmosphere of death and suffering (he had died of cancer), and I swear that man was in the room with me. I don't blame anyone for not taking the apartment.

I grew up around the corner from a revolution era cemetery. The house next to it was always up for sale and when it would get bought, the "for sale" sign would be back up in less than a year. We checked it out once. No spooky effects like doors slamming, or chills or winds, but it felt like I was being followed wherever I went in there, like someone was persistently over my shoulder. Everyone else in my fam said the same thing. Not a big believer in ghosts, but every now and then, some places do get "the shine" to them.

i believe it...*shudder* very spooky!

I've never understood how people could live comfortably in houses right next to cemetery's. I'd never be able to relax.

I renovated an old 1910 victorian home to use as an office. It was lifted up, a new foundation added and stripped to the studs before rehabbing it.

Once I moved in, it was clear something was there. I'd feel creepy, like someone was watching me especially if I was alone at night. You could hear footsteps going up and down the stairs even though nobody was there. Doors would open on their own.One room upstairs was particularly spooky.

A local ghost hunter heard about it and came one night to investigate it. Her team felt the presence of a litle boy. Suddenly, a flash of light occured at the bottom of the stairs in front of the front door. Never had that creepy feeling again.

26K, huh? Clearly the Corcoran Group is experienced in rip-offs. Hopefully their greed will be their downfall.

I wouldn't pay 26k a month to be terrified every time I heard a bump in the night. You know that place is haunted.

Many people in this country don't even make $26,000 in a year. It just shows the incredible gap between the wealthy and the poor in this country.

Duh, at $26,000 per month of course it'll be hard to find a tenant.

I live in a house that a man died in about twenty years ago, which is bad enough. Usually, I forget about it. But there are times when you look at the place they found him and think about it...it's kind of creepy. There is no way that I would live in a place where Heath Ledger died in less than a year ago. That would be all that I think about. They could offer it to me for free, and I still wouldn't take it.
