Huckabee: GOP Needs To Move Away From "Mushy Middle"

What is he talking about? I'm a moderate. The reason I hate the GOP is because of their small government rhetoric. Like Obama says, "Its not about big or small government, Its about smart government".

I want my government to be there to protect me from Corporate Greed, provide common public services and be there to assist me in a time of need. I don't want an nanny state but I do want safety nets.

Until the GOP understand that reducing the size of government and taking away safety nets is not what the American people really want then I will continue to vote Democrat. Those who don't want safety nets will be very sorry when it comes to a time when they need it and don't have it. I am willing to pay more taxes for those safety nets. Obama is going to merge Liberal Social Ideals with Coservative Fiscal Ideas.

Or maybe they got voted out because they were too whacko conservative. When the world is crumbling, no one really gives a hoot about gay marriage or abortion or prayer in schools. Maybe if we had more Lincoln Chaffees and Lowell Wickers and Rockefellers, the Republicans would be a more viable party, a loyal opposition. Huckabee is a whack job...

It is incredible that the party of Lincoln, Coolidge and Hoover has collapsed into the party of Huck and Sarah. The old republicans like Rockefeller and Eisenhower or Olympia Snow at least read a major newspaper or were intellectually engaged in this country's real political issues. Mikey is right... the people that voted for Shameless Saxby should move to an even more conservative position. They should buy lots and lots of guns... hoard their provisions... build a large, large wall around themselves... and wait for their gawd to suck 'em up into heaven. Huckabee's plan will work fine where there is no real or factual news. Many rural areas don't get anything but radio and minimal television reception. More than the fact that the South and some of the Mid West is "conservative" throughout history, these people don't get real news. But the Republicans make sure they get out their talking points on conservative talk radio, and that Fox entertainment is everywhere. The Republicans are no longer the party they once were and they make sure the die hards have gone the way of the right wing.
