Here's another sign of the tough economic times: Some clinics are reporting a surge in the number of women applying to donate eggs or serve as surrogate mothers for infertile couples.

The going rate for a surrogate is about $25,000. Egg donors generally receive $3,000 to $8,000. But a few agencies advertise that they'll pay much more for specific characteristics. One ad running in campus newspapers promises $25,000 for a donor who is "100% Jewish with ... High SAT Scores... Attractive, at Healthy Body Weight and Free of Genetic Diseases."

People rarely know of the fact that they don't have to spend the large amount of money for the costs of ONE egg!
Last issue on the More magazine had an article on egg donors and surrogacy from a website owner who announced her website value being at 20 Million but having only 2 hundred plus members on her site from all the years of working in that field. This shows the fact that women who want babies spend an outrageous amount of money going through a broker. Having someone else judge the mental status of their donor.

DonorPride.com offers people a chance to correspond, evaluating Egg Donors, Surrogates and Known Male Donors, using their own judgment and taking ownership of all the eggs that are retrieved from an individual. Not having a stranger choose their future! Know for YOURSELF...who you are getting as a donor!

An extreme amount of females who go through a sperm bank are gay women. It's sad to see a child growing up and not knowing where they came from. A Wonderful Story is on the Video/News Link of DonorPride.com. Consider this story for those out there who just don't know that they have options.

Kind Regards,

Between residents donating sperm and silly women donating eggs, this is why we're seeing a boom in rare disease in children. How can one resident father 500 children and they never meet? Same thing with a woman's eggs. There's that possiblity of that child marrying a close, blood relative then you have some deformed child or a child with terminal health problems. No thanks.

My 4 month old son's pediatrician just confirmed my suspicions; he is advanced, although short in stature. Anyone in the market for an egg that is guaranteed to be the next Napeolon Bonaparte? He is slated to take over the world...he could have a half brother to share in the glory! Any takers?

$3000 an egg? That's ridiculous. I can get a dozen down at Safeway for under $3.

More controversial, some physicians have suggested such a compensation system for living donors of organs such as kidneys. The big difference here is that you would be saving extant lives rather than creating new ones. A lot of ethical questions would have to be answered, but it's worth debating.

This is bad- if eggs become too valuable, women may be killed for them.

They can call it what they wish, paint it with all kinds of pretty pictures and offer generous amounts for the donations - but the bottom line appears to be something very s.i.n.i.s.t.e.r. This is very d.a.n.g.e.r.o.u.s. Picture a whole generation filled with Dumb-ya's, Chain-knee's and/or Paylun's?

This is something I find confusing: Why the stringent standards for women for egg donation but not sperm donation?

Little hint: men contribute 50% of the DNA, too.

The procedure for Women is more invasive.

With men; they can get as much supply as they want and filter it for characteristics after the fact.
One man and a cup can father hundreds. An individual egg typically can only produces One.

Actually, there are really stringent standards for that as well. If you aren't a wealthy person with a PHD, its hard to even be accepted.

I see nothing wrong with it. You gotta do what you gotta do to survive. Besides it's helping a couple get a baby that they would have never had.

Till judging people on their ethnicity as far as how much they are worth we will never get beyond racial superiority.

"Egg Donation Is On The Rise"

In fact, they're scrambling to do it. For the right price, they'll turn them over easy. In this economic climate, it's the only way to keep their sunny side up.

And that's no yoke.
