Emma Watson: I'd Go Naked

Emma "Hermione" Watson sat down with The Times and told them she's okay to bare all in the name of her craft.

The 18-year-old Chanel model and "Harry Potter" star talked about making the transition from child star to grown-up actress.

"I'm at a strange age... I'm not a woman yet, but I'm not a girl any more. [Film companies] say, 'Oh, in a couple of years you'll be perfect for this.' I'll be like, yeah, but I want to be studying English then, so it's going to be quite tough to choose between the two...

"I have enough to hold me together without fame," she says. "I have a really supportive family and a full life away from Harry Potter. It's unlikely that I'll be part of anything this big ever again, so I need to deal with that. I'm not going to take a job just because, shit, I'm not doing anything else." She still loves acting, naturally -- she would even, steady chaps, go nude. "Yes," she says. "For Bernardo Bertolucci. It . . . depends. I'm not getting my kit off any time soon, but it is part of my job."

Costar Daniel Radcliffe is currently baring all in Equus on Broadway.

She's already been naked, thanks to the paparazzi who insist on taking flash photos of women as they exit the back seats of cars. The photos were posted for all to see on the internet months ago. At least she'll have some control if she appears nude in a movie.

1) those harry potter movies were terrible

2) emma was only the se.x symbol in those movies because she was one of the few female main characters and a 3 hour long sausage-fest is unappealing to males so we have to lust after somebody, anybody.

The human body is beautiful and is nothing to be ashamed of. All you puritans out there that find it wicked or sinful to bare yourselves to the public probably have some deep seeded issues you are covering up. The reason people first started clothing themselves (back when we carried clubs and grunted for communication) was to protect them from the elements such as cold weather and the sun; and protect them from the envirnoment such as animals that would try to eat us.

Our clothing is protection from the forces of the physical world not to hide our "unmentionables".

If you don't like the way you look nude, go exercise and change your physique. You'll be surprised how your attitude towards nudity changes when you are proud of your body.

Some of the most respected female actors in film have done nude scenes. Helen Mirren, Kate Winslet, and Laura Linney come to mind right away. The question is whether the nudity is integral to the part. If it is, and the actor dodges it, one could properly question their artistic integrity and dedication.

Someone needs to tell this kid that it is not her job to show nudity. She's been brainwashed by Hollywood pretty well. She does not owe the audience this. Actors should be allowed to have the boundaries everyone else is allowed to have in life. No job should require someone to share with the world what for many is one of the most private aspects of their being, their sexuality. In private life, I am very liberal in my ideas about sexuality. But this stuff is not liberal, it is backwards and even primitive. And we criticize other cultures?

Hollywood is getting very creepy. I see more and more of these articles posted here and there, articles about just-turned-eighteen-year-olds (usually girls, of course) talking about doing nudity. How long have the interviewers been waiting to ask the question to the kid? Sixteen? Seventeen?

Add in the creepy body shots and there you go, exploitation. Our society is getting so disturbing with this sort of thing. It keeps getting worse. It will be curious to see how much worse it is going to get.
