Emma Watson: I'd Go Naked

Emma "Hermione" Watson sat down with The Times and told them she's okay to bare all in the name of her craft.

The 18-year-old Chanel model and "Harry Potter" star talked about making the transition from child star to grown-up actress.

"I'm at a strange age... I'm not a woman yet, but I'm not a girl any more. [Film companies] say, 'Oh, in a couple of years you'll be perfect for this.' I'll be like, yeah, but I want to be studying English then, so it's going to be quite tough to choose between the two...

"I have enough to hold me together without fame," she says. "I have a really supportive family and a full life away from Harry Potter. It's unlikely that I'll be part of anything this big ever again, so I need to deal with that. I'm not going to take a job just because, shit, I'm not doing anything else." She still loves acting, naturally -- she would even, steady chaps, go nude. "Yes," she says. "For Bernardo Bertolucci. It . . . depends. I'm not getting my kit off any time soon, but it is part of my job."

Costar Daniel Radcliffe is currently baring all in Equus on Broadway.

Just like my Mom still treat me like I'm 15, I can relate to some of the comments of the protective Moms & Dads who may never want to see their precious little girl grow beyond puberty. Parents are always parents. It's the letting go part that many can't seem to shake--oddly enough, this extends to kids that aren't even their own.

Anyway, I've been reading comments of people complaining about how HP is turning into nothing more than a tabloid magazine because there may be an article or two that they clicked on and did not like the content.

This kind of reaction is like going into a stranger's house, look at their TV and cursing at them for watching a show that you don't like. Unless you pay to access HP, there's really no room to complain , especially if you decide to click on the article our of your own free will.

I remember the frizzy haired munchkin from the first film and I'm thrilled to see her and Daniel Radcliffe grow into erudite young adults. She has a full life without fame and doesn't anticipate being part of anything this huge again. Lost of young American actors chase the fame dragon into their graves (or tell-tale stint on Celebrity Fit Club or some other cheesy reality crap).

I'm waiting to hear from Ron, I only hope he's making choices as interesting and circumspect as his costars.

I am sorry I don't agree with your comments at all, there is clear difference between women's right, feministic principles and this unfettered behaviour and rejected every social rule as backward thinking. You are already articulate. You are very bright. Take some classes online for now and maybe in your 30s take a couple years off to put the cream on your studies with some big school. The transition from child star to adult actor is a tough one, and the fact of the matter is most young women film actors are going to be expected to do some love scenes and that at a minimum a certain degree of discrete nudity will be expected.

And somtimes it takes an intentional bit of a shock to reset the expectations, like Daniel Radcliffe appearing nude on stage in Eqqus. In fact Radcliffe's actions were no doubt in large part behind the question in the first place!
