Tom Brokaw Smacks Down David Gregory's Fashion Sense (VIDEO)

It's two days old, but the clip needs to be seen: on Monday's "Morning Joe," the always sharp Tom Brokaw issued a sartorial smackdown to new "Meet the Press" moderator David Gregory.

While Gregory was proudly explaining how humbling the appointment was for him, particularly because of the role the late Tim Russert has played in his life, Brokaw came on the "Morning Joe" set. Playing coy, as he had handed over the "Meet the Press" baton to Gregory just the day before, Brokaw asked, "What's [Gregory] gonna be doing now?"

Then, taking a look at Gregory, decked out in a purple shirt/purple tie ensemble in Washington, Brokaw deadpanned, "He's not gonna become a tie salesman wearing that tie."

Brokaw's intellect is miniscule compared to the size of his ego. That he tried to write a book about the sixties is a joke to anyone who was there. He thinks he was there...bu­t he wasn't. If Gregory returns to his White House press conference confrontational ways, he has a chance to be pretty good. Time will tell.

I am disappointed in their choice of Gregory. However, I have a new favorite Sunday at 10 program with Fareed Sakaris GPS on CNN. It is an absolutely first class program. I am not particularly a fan of CNN except to get some news but in this case they have really outdone themselves.

I love how Brokaw can just wander around the MSNBC set and walk into whatever show he likes.
He's like the elder relation who visits for the week and wears nothing but his shorts and socks around the house.
I mean that in a good way.

So MSNBC's going down the tubes slowly. I'm being hyperbolic obviously, but with the exception of Rachael Maddow and Chris Matthews, I've stopped watching. Olbermann bores me anymore.

I had respect for Tom Brokaw before his gaffe during the election when he quoted made up data in McCain's favour. I thought it was a good decision to get him off the program - however, I do think that the choice of David Gregory was a big mistake.

Considering he plays golf regularly with McCain, no wonder there were question marks about whether he could be fair and impartial moderating the debate. And, quite possibly why too McCain slammed Brokaw during the debate and he looked rather confused at the comment by McCain. Guess McCain thought Brokaw was his boy.

Gregory is like some smug little kid with a new toy regarding this. His attitude reeks of insincerity. 'Humbled' by the appointment? He's dancing with glee (most likely with Karl Rove). He's like the braggart who doesn't like to brag about his good fortune so makes a show of very false and very obviously insincere modesty. I cringe at the thought of him moderating MTP. I, for one, won't be watching the demise of this once-great, once must-see program.
