Portis/Zorn isn't the only rivalry to heat up around here lately: For Sidwell Friends/Maret, it's on.

On Saturday, Maret's basketball boys were leading Sidwell Friends on the road when the home crowd taunted the visitors with a chant ripped from the headlines:

"The Sidwell kids started yelling 'O-ba-ma! O-ba-ma! O-ba-ma!' at us," a Maret parent who attended the game tells me.

Oh my god...everyone HAS to read the comments posted by the kids from Sidwell in the original article. It's -hilarious-!!! Either they've faking hardcore or they -actually- talk like that, which just makes me crack UP....and this is a private school, right? They sound ridiculous...it's awesome.

I am glad Sidwell won, and the parents should stay
out of it, unless there are some real harsh words said
other than that GO SIDWELL! IT's ALL GOOD!

My high school sports teams played an orphanage. The worst chant was, "We have parents. Yes we do. We have parents. How 'bout you?"

I know, slow news day, but I want to be a little serious here. I hope Sidwell and the parents nip that in the bud. That doesn't make it any easier for the Obama girls. Also, just doesn't sit well, hah!

I think I can see how high school sports fans might enjoy the article, but I was foolish enough to read about fifty of the comments at the end that article. (Not the ones here on Huff, but the ones actually at the article reference.) I guess that I was kind of shocked to hear parents and kids who attend $40,000/year schools talking and acting like that----lots of foul language, lots of threats, adults sounding like toddlers in a brawl. Cheering your team on is one thing, and I think that was probably all that was going on at the game, but the comments were ugly. If that kind of junk had welled up at my high school the school authorities would have cleaned it up and the parents wouldn't have been part of the juvenile comments. Whatever happened to that old fashioned thing called good sportsmanship?

Agreed.

Well said, why would parents take offense or engage on this? Let the kids shout themselves hoarse, about anyone, and anything but the parents? umhumh
