'SaveOurParties' Blog Consolidates Efforts To Preserve Inauguration Libations
As everyone knows, we don't really have a President right now, which is why everyone is eagerly anticipating Inauguration Day 2009, so that Barack Obama will stop sticking to his whole "one President at a time" plan and start being that one president at a time. On that day, four million people will descend upon D.C. Some will be looking for Hope, and Change. Others will be yelling at those people. A few will be seeking financial bailouts from the terrible, terrible decisions they made and will continue to make. And, of course, lowest of the food chain, will be reporters, lower even than the people hawking "OBAMASTRONG" bracelets for one dollar apiece outside the McPherson Square Metro Station.
Though people will be coming from all across America, along disparate paths, clinging to different hopes, bringing a unique story, a few things are certain. By midday, they will all be ankle-deep in each others' bowel leavings, and by sunrise the next morning, the District of Columbia will be a stinking crater.
Can anything slow these hordes down? Washington residents hope so, and they believe they know the solution: drink. Demon rum. Libations. And so, the D.C. Council passed legislation that would allow D.C.'s bars to be open 24 hours a day, with drinks served up until 5 a.m., like in civilized cities. But then two Senators - Diane Feinstein and Robert Bennett - tried to appeal to D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty to reconsider. And so, a group of responsible Washingtonians have formed a blog - an UNSTOPPABLE BLOG! - called "Save Our Parties," to...uhm...save the parties.
So, if you'd like to Save the Parties, and Save Washington, then visit "Save Our Parties" and sign the petition. Or if you'd like to be one of those people who just likes to sit back and do nothing as evil triumphs, well, fine. Be like that.
DCist says that they also have a Facebook group, so, that makes them DOUBLE UNSTOPPABLE.
