Should he stay in office, Gov. Blagojevich is warming to the idea of holding a special election for President-elect Barack Obama's vacant U.S. Senate seat, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

The governor -- facing criminal charges that he put the seat and other state-government decisions up for sale -- was optimistic at the start of the weekend that he would sign a bill that would strip him of his power to name Obama's successor, a Blagojevich source said Sunday.

Leave it to the Dems to blow a guaranteed seat in the Senate. If there is a special election, they'll lose.

Did he use to be in Hall and Oates?

I don't see how he can stay in office given the huge ethical problems he is facing.

Has anyone found any direct conenctions that Blago had to the DLC or to Evan Bayh?

I am suprised Evan Bayh wasn't involved being that he is trying to start ANOTHER conservative wing to appose Obama in the Senate.

Big waste of our money. Get Blago out and let Quinn pick in consultation with IL leaders and Obama.

The ultimate expression of magnanimity... get arrested and then say "well, I'm willing to give up a little bit of my power as long as I can draw my salary as governor." the problem is, his arrest taints everything he does, not just the selection of Obama's replacement. Does anyone honestly think that his being caught on tape after arrogantly saying "everything I do is lawful" means that, going forward, his narcissism won't kick in and lead him to more corrupt actions? Hardly. It's like a member of AA being offered a drink, but for him the temptation to seek bribes and kickbacks will be too great, and there is no 12-step program or sponsor for him to fall back on for support. This guy needs to go before he messes up our state more than he already has.

If you haven't already done it, tell the Gov's office how you feel about him resigning.

Call the IL Gov's Office now.

That's big of him.

If he really loved Illionis and all the people of the State, he'd resign pronto, so Quinn could actually do the job of governing, including the Obama replacement appointment, sparing the State Budget the expense of a special election.

Since there is virtually NO evidence he loves anything but his own power, you can see how futile that hope would be! A fast impeachment is looking very good.

I'm all for it.

As long as he is using his campaign (bribe) funds to foot the bill. Illinois tax payers shouldn't be forced to pay tens of millions for a re-election because this clown is incapable of doing his job.

Of course. That would be a great deal for Blogojevich. He'd LOVE it.
But it won't happen. He's got to go- he's just too deluded to know it yet.
