Andy Samberg

AdAge's Michael Learmonth declares Andy Samberg King of YouTube as hereports that SNL's digital short "Jizz in My Pants" is the most-watched YouTube video of the past month, clocking in thus far at 6.7 million views. Of course, what makes this interesting is that "Jizz in My Pants" is one of the rare SNL clips available on the Google-owned YouTube:

NBC has a tortured relationship with YouTube, and takes a hard line toward enforcing copyright. The video's presence on YouTube likely has something to do with the fact that the song is the first single from Universal Music Group's upcoming release, "Incredibad," and the label has some interest in building an audience for it. The video was uploaded by Samberg's production company, The Lonely Island.

NBC is trying to make a buck from the short on its own site via advertising from Nissan and Wrigley's, where the video is receiving far fewer views (561,000). NBC also gets 70%-80% of the ad revenue from sales on Hulu.com, which doesn't disclose views but is running the video with an Absolute Vodka ad.

Last month, Ars Technica speculated that Samberg's viral hit "Lazy Sunday" was responsible for YouTube's $1.5 billion sale. The video, which debuted in December 2005, is widely credited with introducing YouTube to America, but NBC had it removed from the site so it could host it exclusively in its own player.

Watch Samberg's hit clips below:

The latest, Jizz in My Pants:

The first, Lazy Sunday:

One of my personal favorites, a modest hit (1.2 million views is modest by Samberg standards, and he only makes a brief cameo, as cunt-dude Steve), Just 2 Guyz:

SNL is dead. TooFar.TV is the only progressive sketch comedy out there. Sad but true. I used to love SNL

Okay, so the election's over, Amy Poehler's leaving, and Tina Fey isn't doing Palin impressions anymore unless she's at gunpoint. So SNL's now back to potty humor.

I liked D*** in a Box better anyway.

Has anyone seen the digital short in which Samburg is singing about his brother in law Roy? It's called Roy Rules. I have to say it is hilarious and I am someone who thinks Jonathan Swift is a brilliant comic author. Satire, irony, the absurd are great sources of humour if done correctly.

Go to Hulu to watch all of the latest Digital Shorts. Been watching this guy for awhile now there. He has his moments, but couldn't we all with an unlimited budget studio backing you?

All ive ever seen Samberg do is crap.. a month or so ago it was him repeatedly throwing up.
Wow.. real funny. Makes you think about how good SNL was once when Belushi and Akaroid
gave us things like 'So.. you really like the juice ... ' -- it still makes me laugh.

Are you talking about the skit with the Gre ek restaurant? If so, then that was definitely NOT Belushi and Aykroyd.

I enjoy him on SNL sometimes, but this is funny? Perhaps to a 12 year old who has been in born-again isolation on a Georgia farm.

Between this and Britney... gosh, someoe tell me there are kids out there who are a cut above this crap. It's not even MAD magazine bad. Hmmm, I'm not waiting for the new new New Wave to happen anytime soon, for sure.

Creative talent is all that matters and Samberg doesn't have it.-- or at least doesn't have enough to be on SNL every weekend.

It used to be that the hosts & music acts (with their mainstream appeal) reeled in a lot of the dull masses. Now they apply that "Hey, I know that guy!" practice to their talent casting. Samberg and Keenan Thompson are a pathetic affront to comedy.

For Chr1st's sake, this is the show that was home to Jon Belushi, Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, etc (why not include Will Farrell and Tracy Morgan too.) They always had their lower-tier talent, but those guys knew their abilities and limits and filled in the empty spaces to make a great team project.

These new guys are the background cast with too much ego and not enough appreciation for the creative group dynamic that makes something great. It's Andy Samberg time! Its Keenan time! Hey look at my face! I have no doubt these flabs of wide-eyed flesh are incapable of making love, let alone an intellectual and inspiring creative collaboration with a group of their peers, because they have no qualms about injecting themselves into the public consciousness for a few cheap fleeting moments of attention. Pathetic.

...and the award for the most bile-filled old timer goes to....

Ahh the good old days, hah, I challenge you to watch any old episode of SNL from the "Golden Years", the ratio of flops to laughs is pretty constant over the years.

I wonder what is wrong with our society when so much contempt is heaped upon those brave few who risk 'death' onstage just to try to make us laugh. Don't like it? Get out your boxed set of "The Golden Girls" or whatever it is you find funny.

Sorry, I'm 26. Samberg and Thompson are my peers. The reason I hate them, is because the lack the creative and comedic chops for the amount of time they get.

Its a lame thing in my (our?) generation. The same thing you saw in basketball in the late 90s and 2000s -- everybody wants to be the star. Self-absorbed bastards have always been around (who doesn't like a good villian -- Bill Lambeer.)

SNL and all sketch comedy is always a few hits and plenty of misses -- product of the creative process. These guys don't get that. They're just playing for themselves, hence their insistence on projecting the entire time -- they have no skill for timing or subtlety.

Seriously, Samberg can't work in skits with other people b/c he can't improvise, impersonate or play a character (he's made himself a character, he's already acting in real life.) Thompson can't engage with other actors/comedians either.

They're both just "funny guys," who always need to be "on," because, what else would they be?.. SNL has had plenty of lower-tier talent, but like I said, they knew their abilities and helped be the supports to the greater structure -- they didn't stick their big dumb goofy faces out front while the talent scrambled to build something.

I wouldn't care, but they crowd a stage that has showcased awesome talent, and has usually been a magnet for more of it. I blame Lorne Michaels ultimately, its just lazy management & casting.

"Ahh the good old days, hah, I challenge you to watch any old episode of SNL from the "Golden Years", the ratio of flops to laughs is pretty constant over the years."

The last half hour of every SNL was always a comedy ghetto they just threw in there so they could save the good material to fill in another show to keep them even. But you are wrong about the new shows being as funny as the old. I have watched entire shows recently that did not provoke one laugh. The only funny stuff recently has been some of the political stuff. But, come on, who couldn't write something funny about Pal in?

And yeah, it's a big sacrifice for these guys to go out on stage every week and get paid for spending no time thinking about or doing anything even remotely funny. That's a rough life.
