If it wasn't intentional, then it's a very sad statement about that newspaper. They're in the news business and they don't know who the f'n president is? It's clearly not a typo. So either stupid or mean spirited. Must be American.
I suppose we have Bill Gates to thank for this. I love me some spell checker!
I hope that this story has been fact checked and verified.
Why the uck is this news?
Soon someone will be trying to find the Birth record of Burka Abeam to say he was born in Kenya and has to be disqualified as POTUS.
A demonstration in why we need eyes on the font editors. I have recently bought books with horrible mistakes made by robot spell-grammer-editors.
FAIL
That was no typo.
No kidding unless they are using some weird keyboard because those letters are nowhere near each other. The U and the A are on opposite sides of the keyboard.
I agree, "that was no typo."
It is not a typo. Don't know too much about photo-shop, but I bet the picture and the caption below it were photo-shopped. Someone tampered with the page. What is dailynews.com and why was the top right side of the page obscured.
CIA changed his code name from "Renegade" to "Burka Abeam" and the Daily News leaked it!
Really relevant and informative stuff here.
Someone's spellchecker isn't working...
The spell check worked fine, and found pretty fair matches in the standard English dictionary for that unusual name. It was the copywriter who wasn't working. And, maybe, isn't working for that paper - anymore. The editor sure missed one, too.
My favorite "drive off the road" moment was a headline in the Green Bay Press Gazette from back in the early 1990s. The copy software was designed to keep out accidental dirty words, of course, but had not taken into account the variable word spacing used in newspaper type. So the headline, referring to Governor Tommy Thompson's tendency to slash through every bill with line item vetoes was, "Thompson's pen is a sword." Fine enough in mono-spaced type, but imagine the poor editor driving home and seeing that headline in 72-point type in the street boxes - but with a very narrow "n" space between "pen" and "is."
I don't think it was a typo.
Burka is a clothe wear by Muslim women mostly in Middle East and South Asia to cover themselves. It mostly comes in Black color.
Then what's Abeam?
I believe that abeam runs at a right angle to athwart but I could be wrong.
Way to bring us the important news, HuffPo.
Yep yep...btw Suri Cruise's vocabularly is amazing!
It's a fluff piece, filler, nothing more. Y'all take your politics - and your news - much too seriously. We need stuff like this to take the edge off. We won, and with that victory comes permission to chill. Unless of course you LOST, then you must remain uptight for the next 8 years - and beyond - because you'll really always be l o s e r s.
I'm not happy that HP is virtually ignoring Britney!
It's someone messin with 'ya. "Burka" is the headscarf worn by Middle Eastern women. "Abeam" is a very weak attempt to try and give a different version of the spelling of PE Obama's name but without much success.
Actually that may insult some American Middle Eastern women, as well as women over seas. My only concern is the wackos that really think our new President-Elect is some kind of t errorists. Palin tried to make him sound like one and look at the two arrested for conspiring to kill him and others. I am sure that paper back checks everything, as well as spell check, there is no excuse.
Abeam acually means -at right angles to the length of a ship or aircraft
Burka- Mus.lim womans dress
Mu.slim Aircraft =9.11 reference?
hmmm
You should get on the Illuminati's trail, you are amazing.
It was on Leno last night and Leno thought it was hilarious. Given Obama's sense of humor, I don't think our P-E would be too upset.
what sense of humor?
