A Long Island PTA official has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police say she was caught half-naked in a car with a 13-year-old boy.
Joan Tuckruskye, 44, of Baldwin, N.Y., was found with the boy in the parking lot of Meadow Elementary School. When an officer approached the Nissan Pathfinder, neither was wearing pants, according to police.

I'll answer that. You cannot throw a blanket age, everyone is different and with different upbringing. To generalize about something like this is completely out of line.

If she doesn't fit the definition of a pedophile, then no one does. He is not anywhere close to being an adult and she was exploiting him. One commenter suggested that this a a consenual relationship. Between an adult a child is not consensual.
You don't even know what a "pedophile" is. Pedophilia is a sexual attraction to prepubescent children, as defined by both the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, and a sexual attraction or relationship with an adolescent would thus not suffice.

One thing that I do not understand is the point of view that "oh, all 13-year boys want this". Perhaps. But this is completely irrelevant. The sad fact is that a grown-up woman cannot control her sexual urges. In wave of recent cases of female teachers of any age having involved with students I was ingrossed not so much by the fact that the teachers take advantage of teenagers' desire to experiement with sex, but with the fact that they (teachers, and in this case member of PTA) break trust of parents who entrust their children into care of schools and teachers.
Is anyone seeing this problem? Here is an adult person what violates trust of people who entrust them with the most precious thing they have in their life - their kids. Just as doctor having sex with a patient or a consultant having sex with a client, it is disgusting. Adult people, professional people in particular, should be held to a high standard of personal behaviour. This childish "oh, no harm, he wanted it" stink is beyond immoral. It is not sex that is immoral, it is behaviour of PROFESSIONALS who cannot at the very least control themselves.
This is my personal opinion. Not that I am completely "without sin", I am just sayng that breach of trust, public trust is disgusting.

On the one hand, you piously talk about "entrusting" your children to schools (what happened to proper upbringing by YOU?) and arrogantly overprotecting "your most precious THING" while admitting "not that I am completely "without" sin".

See, the problem is that all the commenters who are outraged seem to build their argument on the rhetorical question, "So you think a grown man and a teenage girl is okay?"
Precious few people are answering yes to that and still you remain outraged at this phantom argument.

Human relationships can't be regulated as simplistically as traffic laws. And again, if you want super strict and simplistic laws and punishment regarding sex, you might find happiness in Iran or Saudi Arabia.

Protecting children from adults who can talk them into "consenting" to a sexual relationship is not, i think, a bad thing to do.

I really think you need to check the law there, pardner. An adult and a teenager together, whatever the respective genders, is not only not okay, it'll land your ass in jail.
Try telling the judge how it was "okay" to get with a seventh grader because she was consenting and you were both respectful.

Not a phantom argument at all. The argument is made to those who say " well, it's different--and OK--when it's a boy and a woman." The response is that no, in fact, it's not OK, no matter the genders of the victim and pedophile/ molester.
