Gambit! Finally....he better actually sound Cajun....

Deadpool! If he doesn't make some sort of 4th wall breaking joke, it wont be worth it!

In the San Diego Comicon showing of the trailer Wolverine tells Sabertooth "I'm gonna cut yer goddamn head off and see if that works!" I liked the original cut better, but it still looks really, really good!

As a comic book fan who began reading comics when the Wolverine mini-series came out around 1982-83, i think it's a shame they are ignoring wholesale the aspect of his Japanese samurai training. It's such an intriguing element of his discipline and general context. This is a character whose depth as one has been undermined by Jackman's lack of studying that mini-series, a brutal and blatant mistake that any true Wolverine fan would have caught. His Wolverine is not Wolverine at all. He's become a cliche animal/man dynamic conflict. Pathetic Jackman couldn't bring himself to incorporate such an illustrative addition to Logan's psyche and personality, nor demand the creators of the X-men franchise carry out that thread of Wolverine's history as so many comic book devotees have followed. Wolverine has a perfectly Zen side, sadly that has been lost entirely for the sake of exploiting his berserker side.

I agree with you in principal. Storm also has a Japanese connection. During the silver samurai issues she learns to trust herself more, to actually become a leader. I think that this could be an interesting element to explore. I'm not sure you can do the 1982 - 83 world in 2008.

Right, i would just hope they would pay attention to the extent of how evolved these characters are as opposed to how they have acted on their opinions of how they can be sold to the public. Wolverine is so much more complex a character, and that mini-series did more to illuminate that aspect in four issues than most of his subsequent history in and out of the X-men, Origins included. That series added so much more, resolving the absolution of that element to be that much more of a crime against portraying comics accurately in film, granted a steadily sloppy transition process as it stands. We can say the same about Storm as much as Rogue and others, the X-men movies were like going to a funeral of the X-men comic characters on many levels, i hope some day someone remakes them with the integrity necessary.

I know! Yummy! I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Wolverine was my favorite X-man after Storm (horribly portrayed by Halle Berry). I'd definately plop down my $12 to see him shirtless and snarling!

I can't wait for this movie. The fight between Sabretooth and Wolverine is going to be intense. A chill ran down my back when I heard Wolverine say I'm going to cut your head off http://www.entertonement.com/clips/49781/Cut-your-head-off
It's about time he became the vicious mutant that he is. The X-men movies made him way to soft!

I'll say it, the trailer looks a little cheesy. Oh I'm still going to see the movie, but they had better be working on the special effects from now until May.

Liev Shreiber is Sabretooth, and looks more like the comic book version than Tyler Mane did. Tyler's version was the 80s/90s version when he went more feral after living apart from humanity for years.

Gambit doesn't have any ties to Wolverine's past but he does have ties to Sabretooth's. They have been at each other's throats for years, predating their time in the Mauraders.

This movie has nothing to do with the first three X-MEN movies. It's the origin of Wolverine, and Wolverine is well over 100 years old (as told in ORIGIN, James Howlett aka Logan aka Wolverine was born in the 1800s in Alberta)

Still there's a baby Storm there, Gambit, Emma Frost for some reason, Deadpool (heck yea!) Blob, and Weapon XIII (Fantomex) Cyclops is there as well (Scott Summers has an IMDB credit) --

X-MEN 1-3 are not part of the film cannon anymore. Now Marvel is moving onto creating their own films (X-MEN Origins: Wolverine being the last of the studio films not controlled by Marvel) They are restarting the X-MEN Franchise under the auspices of the X-MEN: The First Class, sans Wolverine.

Wolverine, and Hugh should look to have a long solo franchise if this does well though. And if this does well they are already spinning Renyolds off into a Deadpool solo flick so I can imagine Traylor Kitsch getting a Gambit movie.

"We're putting together a special team." In how many movies have I heard that before?

But that's just a ballpark estimate.

Great trailer, and I didn't even have to go see "The Day the Earth Stood Still" to see it! Since I came to appreciate Hugh Jackman after seeing the first "X-Men" movie, I'm looking forward to seeing him without his shirt (of course!) AND also looking forward to a better movie than the third "X-Men" movie!
