Blagojevich To Taxpayers: Pay My Bill

SPRINGFIELD - Gov. Rod Blagojevich wants taxpayers to pay for the high-profile defense lawyer he hired to represent him in state lawmakers impeachment proceedings.

His lawyer, Edward Genson, filed that request with the impeachment panel investigating the governor and with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. The request is to have Madigan, the state's top lawyer, authorize his defense of the governor, which would mean taxpayers would foot the tab.

Currently the governor is on his own to pay his legal bills.

Actually Blago can get a court appointed attorney (a public defender) if he cannot afford an attorney, Which I might add, our taxes already pay for. If Blago doesn't feel this is adequate then he has the right to hire his own attorney with his own money, just like everyone else. Why should he be different than the rest of us?

The upside is obviously he does not expect to survive impeachment whenever that happens.. but on the other hand, his approval ratings is around 13% so 0% is not that far or big a deal at this point..
It will be even worse if he is convicted then he will be housed and fed at the state's expense also.
