Las Vegas Snow

Tourists and residents of Las Vegas alike received quite a shock as a snowstorm blanketed sin city's most famous monuments. It also caused some travel headaches:

The ongoing snowstorm has stopped flights from landing or leaving at McCarran International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

"No planes are departing for Las Vegas from anywhere in the U.S. right now," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

Gregor said the airport doesn't have snow removal or deicing equipment, which means there's no way for snow-covered planes to leave safely.

"The forecast is not looking particularly promising for anybody who wants to fly into Las Vegas," he said.

Missed two days of golf. This keeps up and I may move back to Buffalo.

Good point! If it only snowed three feet in Buffalo then conditions are considered pretty good!

PDO ...we have about 30 years of global temp gradually dropping to look forward to. The kids of today will experience winters like I did as a child. Many older folks are starting to remember when they see lakes freeze that havn't done so in years.

Ah.... Las Vegas... how I miss you. I can't wait to come visit and spend all my money and yet leave with a seriously big smile on my face.

Best. City. Ever.

For a day Los Vegas can stop sucking precious water from communities that aren't artificially constructed.

This may not prove Global Warming or Climate Change is occurring right before our eyes, but it does prove that Hell can freeze over.

If only we'd listened to Al Gore, Vegas wouldn't be getting this devastatingly pleasant snow at the most inconvenient time of a week before Christmas. If only we'd acted we could have stopped the two inches of snow that Vegas got in 1967 and the nine inches in 1974. We're sorry Al. You do matter after all. Here all along I thought you were a sad man looking for attention.

I live in Henderson which is on the east side of The Strip and have lived here for the past 8 years. I can say that while a snow storm is unusual in Las Vegas, it's not unheard of. I have video of it snowing here 4 years ago. BUT on the opposite side of town, Summerlin, The Spring Mountains and Mount Charleston regularly get snow. They are simply at a higher elevation than some parts of Henderson.

And for all the non belivers, we have a Ski and Snowboard Resort, 25 miles off the Strip, in Lee Canyon!

The desert is not just one climate, but an array of micro climates, depending where in this Valley you live.

This is another sign of Global Warming,a lot of people misunderstand what Global Warming really is,it's not that things get warmer it's that things get more chaotic, look at a pan of cold water being heated as it gets hotter you start to see eddies and movement as the hotter water at the bottom of the pan mixes with the cooler water then as it gets close to boiling see what happens and then full boiling.well the earth is in the heating stage where there is still huge sources of cold but the cold is being moved to places it shouldn't because of the increased chaos in the Air masses now one day in the future the Cold Sources will disappear and then the Hot Air Mass will cover the Earth from Pole to Pole cooking the Planet like it did 250,000,000 when excess CO2 killed 95% of all life on Earth.

Your science is amazing! If the climate is warm, that indicates global warming. If the climate is cold, that also indicates global warming.

First things first, If you can show me transcripts or something to prove your claim that Al Gore failed anything I will be willing to recant my claim that you and your brand of thought are the true FAILURES! FYI we that think something is wrong will certainly pick up your slack... but we would love it if you would help! No conditions as that may seem BIG GOVERNMENT of WE THE PEOPLE telling you what to do, we don’t want that now!

So really man, Im not saying I know a thing but I do no that I have yet to get the answer to this simple QUESTION, And here it is again

When you were young... I don’t care if it was 20 years ago or 50 years ago did you live near a creek or stream?? And did you ever catch Crawfish or Crawdad’s?? If you did like I did and im only 38 then I ask you to go to that creek or stream and tell me if you can catch one... JUST ONE with your son or daughter! If you can answer yes then there is hope!

I have never caught one in any creek with either of my 3 SONS or 1 Daughter and that to me tells me that something is wrong! Please go see for yourself, don’t rely on Al Gore or me!

There hasn't been any water running in our local MOzark creek for ages. When I first moved here back in the early nineties it ran year round and had swimmable pools containing aquatic life. The water table is now so low from years of drought that by early summer 2008 after nearly 20 inches more rainfall than "normal" had fallen, it still didn't even flood or run for very long. It's become a sandy, dry, drainage ditch. During this time we've had to have a new well drilled too--the old was 200 feet deep; the new is 450 :-(

I used to do that as a kid, being the same age as you. However I am also of the belief that some of our problems come from the fact that we over consume before nature is able to replenish. We don't conserve enough at all, we just use, use, use. We let water run like it's a black hole of resource that never ends, it does.

I am of the belief that we has people have moved too far too quickly without realizing or understanding the consquences. We have gone from walking and riding horses to a one car family to a mulitple car family in less than 100 years. We've gone from writing letters and waiting for the post office to deliver in days to "writing" an email and having it delivered in seconds. Look at people even compared to when we were young. They have no patience, everything is me, me, me. They have no clue of their surroundings, People are all in a hurry to go nowhere fast and people have become stupified to the most basic of things. If the electric would go out for days (as it did when I was a kid with big summer storms) most would be in a panic as they wouldn't know what to do.

After is read this I started laughing, for about 2 minutes when I realized there is no cure! Its not like I can just tell you something and you will believe it! hell if a UFO landed in your front yard, and an alien slapped you in the face and your democrat next door neighbor came over and said "HEY are you alright??" You would tell him he is crazy!

Did you know Al Gores family grew as much tobacco as their family could??

Did you know Al Gore's sister died from cancer??

Did you know Al gores Family cut down ever single Tobacco plant they had on there farm??

Do you think You could maybe change, or are you going to wait until this planet has cancer?

Think About it Laughers!

Twice in 5 years, university professors were sent a pamplets showing why climate change wasn't true. Being a recipient, I found the source of the mailing - a group supporting big energy. The group was hoping that they could get some unwitting PhD's to endorse their position. If you find the source of funding for studies that say climate change is false, you will find that they tie to those who have interest in fossil fuel use. I haven't been able to trace every single one, but enough of them. Please realize that these lobbies are huge and very convincing with their presentations.

Climate change is absolutely occuring. Even George W. admits it, though he won't admit man's role. It's very obvious it's due to mankind if you look at the science (multiple, sound tests). Since the industrial revolution greenhouse gas levels have drastically increased. Further, the overall earth is warming, but this causes various microclimates due to ocean currents, etc.. This causes some colder areas. It's the rapid change in these microclimates that is the problem and overall the increase in total temperature across the globe. I know these things for fact as an engineer and scientist who has studied the subject extensively.

Please know that the special interest groups (primarily oil and natural gas) are doing whatever they can to confuse the public. It's obviously working because most do not know where to find the unbiased data. The IPCC is the best source.
