Las Vegas Snow

Tourists and residents of Las Vegas alike received quite a shock as a snowstorm blanketed sin city's most famous monuments. It also caused some travel headaches:

The ongoing snowstorm has stopped flights from landing or leaving at McCarran International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

"No planes are departing for Las Vegas from anywhere in the U.S. right now," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

Gregor said the airport doesn't have snow removal or deicing equipment, which means there's no way for snow-covered planes to leave safely.

"The forecast is not looking particularly promising for anybody who wants to fly into Las Vegas," he said.

How come we can predict what the temp will be a hundred years from now but they can't predict how cold this winter will be-Could it be the great Gore global warming hoax?

because we can't predict the temp one hundred years from now - all we can do is make trend predictions based on climate science. how come you can't understand a simple thing like that - could it be you flunked science as a youth?

I can't remember what year it was, but I was there when it snowed in the 80's.

The year was 1979 in the month of January. 7 inches of snow total. I was a sophomore in High School. They canceled/closed pretty much everything that day, schools, malls and the airport. The next day the snow was pretty much melted away and things went back to normal. I was born and raised in Las Vegas and lived there for almost 40 years (1963-2001). It does snow in the valley once in a awhile. In 1986 on Christmas day it snowed for about 30 minutes.

My sister is always bragging about the weather in Vegas (except maybe in August)....

But I do hope she has some snow shoes though---

This has GOT to be from global warming!!!

Quick, everyone sell your SUV's and buy a horse and buggy. Also, don't forget to throw some of your money at Al Gore and he will be glad to send you a carbon offset in the mail. (pony express)

We've had so much global warming here in northern Ohio, that we are almost 3 degrees below normal for the month. Brrrrrrrrrr!!

You people are dumber than a bag of DIRT

Quit talking about subjects that you do not understand. Global warming is a PART of the Massive climate CHANGES that the scientists are talking about. WOW did any of you EVER do ANY Homework??

Yes I do, THAT'S why I'm a skeptic. I don't just swallow everything I'm told by agenda driven politicans and their "scientific" colleagues.

Is Al Gore getting rich, Ohiomark? Wasn't he already rich? I guess he needed some cash so he invented global warming! Well, conservatives appreciate entrepreneurship!

It is funny to leave a comment for Ohiomark when you know he has no idea what I am talking about.

This is all a figment of Al Gore's imagination.........

Maybe. But I'm here in LV, and the "figment" is coming down for real, and we may have several inches of figment by morning.

Hilarious!

We have had snow in Seattle, too. What part of the country hasn't it snowed on? That seems to be the real question.

Weird weather patterns are among the results of Bush's policy on climate change and global warming. It would take generations to realize the true damage Bush has done to this planet.

Wow. You are just as ignorant as the people who are claiming that snow in Las Vegas proves that greenhouse gases don't effect the climate. I don't think anyone can claim that we are seeing the effects of George Bush's policy at this point, it's way too early one way or another.

It's sheer justice for Las Vegas to be the one to get the snow job for once.

nobody really knows if this is due to that climate change whoosey-what's-it or if it's just the end of days.......
