Peter King: "No Evidence" Kennedy Qualified For Senate, I Could Beat Her In Election (VIDEO)

Republican Rep. Peter King of New York said Wednesday that there is "no evidence" that Caroline Kennedy is qualified to fill Hillary Rodham Clinton's Senate seat.

"The fact is, she has a well-known name. Her face has been in a lot of magazines. But, she has very limited involvement in the public sphere," King said during an interview on CNN's "Situation Room." "She has led, I believe, a life which is separate from what most New Yorkers do..."

..."I believe if I can get together enough money and commitments over the next several months, I will certainly run and I wouldn't run if I didn't think I could win," he said. "I think people will identify with me as being much more similar to them than someone who has, again, lived her life either on Park Avenue or Hyannis Port."

The Republicans have taught us that experience isn't an important qualifier for holding office. Case in point: the illustrious governor of Alaska -- loads of experience for vice president of the most powerful nation on the planet? How about Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of my state. Isn't the seventh (or tenth) largest economy in the world. What experience did he have? No friends, in politics, experience isn't important unless the inexperienced person in question belongs to the opposing party. Get over it.

I'm interested in Peter Kings qualifications. The GOP has driven this country into the ground. Our economy, terrible, our environment, weakened, our civil liberties infringed, our standing in the world, shoe worthy, our military situation, precarious, what has peter king done besides destroy the country for the last 8 years. Peter King is not standard bearer. Instead of commenting on Caroline's qualifications, he must say that he is also interested in bing the senator.

Peter King is one of the biggest bombastic blowhards in Congress. If it will make his head explode, I'm all the more for Caroline getting the seat. I will welcome the day that another person, Dem or Repub, defeats him in humiliating fashion.

There's no chance that Governor Paterson would appoint Peter King to fill HRC's Senate seat, but if there were a special election, the Republicans would be united behind him, whereas the Democrats would be divided.

The best, wisest thing Paterson can do now is to appoint somebody qualified who is also uncontroversial. That would, of course, exclude CK.

As a true conservative (and someone from his district), the last person that I want to be my senator is him. That being said there is a lot of truth to what he's saying; I've never heard of Caroline Kennedy giving a damn about a NY issue, and Pete King is an ex-cop who is incredibly approachable and doesn't live in like a socialite world; unlike any other politician(Democrat or Republican), he has the unanimous support of our teachers, janitors, and business leaders. Don't ask me how he's so popular, but he is.
