Will Smith

Will Smith gives generously to many causes, and one of them is the Church of Scientology. A Fox News report on his charitable foundation's tax return shows that $122,500 was donated to Scientology causes, out of $1.3 million given overall.

He also gave a combined $122,500 to the Church of Scientology, broken into these donations: $67,500 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxication Fund, $50,000 to the group's Celebrity Center in Hollywood and $5,000 to ABLE, another Scientology offshoot. Smith and his wife have also supported a private school called New Village Academy they opened this fall in suburban Los Angeles that uses Scientology learning concepts.

Smith has talked about his study of Scientology and also said he is not a Scientologist.

How disappointing that he doesn't believe that a man who supposedly died two thousand years ago (and of whom there is is no written evidence of his existence during his lifetime) will return to earth any second amidst the blare of trumpets.

Ya, ain't it sad?............Many people think Scientology is a weird cult yet they buy right into that other weird cult where the man/savior dies on a cross for their sins, rises from the dead and ascends body & soul into "heaven"........and even if he could or DID return to Earth.....All those religious nut bags would call him blasphemer and anti-christ and have him arrested and killed! .............religious fanaticism is the root of all evil!

No, I think Scientology is a weird cult because they forcefully brainwash their followers while taking more money from them then they can possibly afford (most scientologists are not millionaire celebrities, as with all pyramid schemes). I think they hold irresponsible views on mental health that are harmful for their followers, and spend their ill-earned money on media that hurts mental health for all people.

I have no problem with them believing in aliens flying B-52s, just like I have no problem with people who have delusions of eating the flesh of a 2,000 year old zombie who fathered himself. I have a problem when people start harming my patients through lawsuits and unscientific media and research.

Scientologists are freely permitted (encouraged?) to lie about their ties to the "church" to non-believers as they see fit. In other words, Smith saying he isn't a Scientologist does not make it so.

Another perfectly good actor casting pearls before swine! It doesn't matter whether the money is being used for kids education programs. How many lives have been destroyed by this pseudo-religion?
Far more than Will's money will help! Can't wait for his new TV show:

FRESH PRINCE OF XENU!

What makes an accepted religion any better than a pseduo-religion? One whacked out mythology is no more correct than any other whacked out mythology. Just because more people in AMeircan happen to believe in jesus does not make him real. Belief in fictional characters does not make them real.

Well, you can go ahead and boycott all activities by christians, jews, and muslims, but I imagine you'll find that rather difficult. I'm happy settling for nipping this stupid cult in its bud, thank you very much.

"How many lives have been destroyed by this pseudo-religion?" - A lot less than Judaism, Christianity and Islam have destroyed. It's a more obvious money cult, but so are the rest.

It is F-ed up when any religion has a "Celebrity Center."

I will never spend a dime on a Will Smith movie again. Scientology - GROSS

Ditto. I can't believe it. I thought Will Smith was the best celebrity role model...he never got in trouble, never had a sex tape, etc. Now he goes and gives money to wacko Scientology...so NOT cool!

Once those Scientologists get something on you, you're trapped, especially if you're a movie star. Perhaps Will and Jada's secrets are as juicy as imagined and the Scientology pack refuses to let go...Or maybe he really does want to save the world. Seven Pounds is an amazing movie and Will does a great job.

Their E-mater test is really a test to see how weak minded and weak willed you are. Then they get you to confess but they are not bound to keep these "confessions" private, hello blackmail. The whole "e-meter" is a 50 electronics design to measure electrical resistance on the skin. It's kind of a really poorly designed lie detector from the 50's.

It's called Galvanic Skin Reponse, and it's still used all the time in legitimate psychology.

this isnt a church, its a farce. too many people have died and the "chuch" has done lots to cover up. he and his wife are scientologists, like tom and katie cruise, john travolta etc. ill bet the farm they dont know the real workings of the church.

Hubbard's death in California. Its all here. Not quite the way the 'Church' tells it.

Too bad about Will. He has now gotten his wife involved as well. Seemed like nice enough folks but maybe they felt that this life was too good.

Will has been very lazy by not doing research. The money? He's got tons but his integrity and sanity is on the line. the guy is not nearly as bright as most of his fans figured.

It is VERY difficult to leave as he has already told his inner darkest secrets and they have it in writing.

A religion founded by a science fiction writer in the 1950's based on the concept that hundreds of millions of years ago aliens from another galaxy chained other aliens called Thetans to volcanoes on Earth and then blew them up with hydrogen bombs.
