Will Smith

Will Smith gives generously to many causes, and one of them is the Church of Scientology. A Fox News report on his charitable foundation's tax return shows that $122,500 was donated to Scientology causes, out of $1.3 million given overall.

He also gave a combined $122,500 to the Church of Scientology, broken into these donations: $67,500 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxication Fund, $50,000 to the group's Celebrity Center in Hollywood and $5,000 to ABLE, another Scientology offshoot. Smith and his wife have also supported a private school called New Village Academy they opened this fall in suburban Los Angeles that uses Scientology learning concepts.

Smith has talked about his study of Scientology and also said he is not a Scientologist.

He hasn't become a Scamologist yet. IF he had, they would be shouting it from the rooftops all over the world and using him to recruit more poor dummies.

exactly...they dont want the world to know because they know it will hurt his career, and his career is a valuable bargaining chip when someone new goes in to check the cult out...they will casually slip in that will smith is a member, and how well he does at the box office...if he stopped being big at the box office it wouldnt look to good to a new recruit because it will say that america thinks scientology is fake and hasnt kept up its end of the deal by promising a better life and more control of your life

Homophobic Scientology has a strange, irresistable draw to Hollywood's closeted gays, I must say.

(Think of what that money would mean to a truly worthy cause!)

From the article:

Smith’s biggest single contribution was, as usual, Yesha Ministries of Philadelphia. He gave the born-again Christian based organization run by Reverend James Robinson a whopping $250,000. That’s a hefty raise from the $140,000 he gave them the previous year. Another $200,000 went to a Christian ministry outside Los Angeles called Living Waters.

he did it to hide the scientology givings...if it is brought up in an interview he can just say "we also donated the christian places too!"

i bet the money he has given to scientology is much greater than reported.

That is such bs that Will is not a Scientologist.. Why couldn't he give money to the Salvation Army?? They help EVERYONE, not just those who believe as they do.. Is Jada a Scientologist, too?? Why don't you just come out and admit it to everyone, Will????

How exactly do you know that Will DIDN'T give money to any other organizations or charities? I don't get what the big hub-bub is about. I'm not a fan of Scientology either, but if the man is giving his own money to organizations that have ties to Scientology, so what? A post above also noted he gave the most money to a christian organization based in Philadelphia, so maybe Will is doing what he does best: trying to help everyone, no matter what religion they may be. That's what unprejudiced people do.

Jada is a scientologist....I live in LA and im involved in the industry...supposedly her father was a late in life scientologist, and she always dabbled in it, then she got more involved in it once she and tom cruise met eachother...will was apprehensive to it as first, but then he supported it...they now have their own private cult school...

The 'hub-bub' is because the programs Mr. Smith has donated to are ALL attempting to subversively get anyone who comes in hook onto Scientology. Thier programs and methods have been disproved and debunked by MANY leading researchers, doctors and educators. Not only are many of them ineffec tive; they can be dangerous, too

Check out this article http://www.lcsun-news.com/ci_1115895858 It seems a drug education program called the 'Drug Free Marshals' was kicked out of local schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico after the Mayor discovered he had been misled and deceived by Foundation for a Drug Free World's Richard Henley. He told Mayor Miyagishima about their 'successful' program. Henley never once mention Scientology or it founder, L. Ron Hubbard. When the mayor discovered that he'd been tricked, he booted the 'Marshals' out of the schools.

Scientology NEVER announces it's true intentions. It will hide under important and impressive-sounding names. It is deceptive, manipulative and dangerous to the public at large.

Thank God someone gave this poor little church some money! Will Smith is a hero for helping out such a struggling organization. After all, why on Earth would you give $122,500 dollars to something shifty like the Red Cross or Unicef? If you really want your cash to help people in need donate to the church that believes in aliens.

L. Ron Hubbard is reported to have told a close friend "I'm going to start a religion. That's where the big money is."

I had tried my best to ignore the rumors about Will Smith being a Scientologist. Apparently, it is true. Sad ... sad... sad!
