Chicago Handgun Ban Survives First Challenge

Chicago won round one in its defense of the city's handgun ban, but Mayor Richard Daley said today he's looking at less sweeping gun control measures in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision against such laws this year.

The nation's high court struck down a Washington, D.C. handgun ban similar to Chicago's law. The National Rifle Association then moved to challenge Chicago's ban.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Milton Shadur rejected the gun rights group's effort to extend the D.C. ruling to Chicago and Oak Park.

One can just drive from Chicago to Indianapolis and RENT a gun for a murder or an armed robbery in Chicago (no questions asked).

I thought all citizens were covered under the constitution not a retarded mayor who thinks he knows what is best, his gun control has spawned the rash of gun violence. Keep guns especially handguns legal in a city that is crawling with crime.

We have the highest murder rate in the country. Yeah, those strict gun laws are really helping.
