"The View" Debates Rick Warren: Hasselbeck Commends "Great Choice" (VIDEO)

The ladies of "The View" got heated over Obama's selection of Rick Warren for his inauguration, with Sherri and Elisabeth speaking out in Warren's defense and Joy Behar against it.

Elisabeth said "I think he's a great choice," and commended Obama for his pick of invocation deliverer.

Behar responded, "It's like putting Cheney in charge of gun control. It's just wrong."

With that Hasselbeck said, "Who would you rather have, Reverend Wright?"

After Walters weighed in, the debate became one of gay marriage and civil unions that got the ladies all riled up, but sadly Whoopi broke it up to go to commercial, changing topics when they came back

I don't watch this show very much - only occasional clips from Huffingtonpost - and whenever I do it seems that Whoopi is always the voice of reason, regardless of the topic. I also like that she communicates in a mellow manner without the theatrics and screaching

I don't know where you're getting your info (not from watching the show obviously), but just because she blathers that she is being respectful, doesn't make it so. She just likes Warren, that is it, period. Otherwise she shows no respect and just continues to spew talking points that she can't even come up with herself. If you're not the focus of Warren's hate and filthy campaign to wish to negate a group of people then you ought to keep you're opinions in check. This man has chosen to vilify the entire homosexual population because he thinks he has the right to. NOT. Had Obama chosen him in an advisory position of some sort but he made him part of the centerpiece of moment that we all, ALL are invested in. And it would seem that the Evangelicals were not and are not so invested in Obama. If it turns out that this was a move on Obama's part to arrive at a better place with all parties in mind then great. Somehow I don't see Warrren's view changing so drasticall­y...the fury this prejudice fires up keeps his congregation stoked. Obama could have had Warren invoke a prayer over an inaugural meal or something. You can't expect a hate mongering man to change that drastically. What's wrong with Rev. Wright Elisabeth, he spoke the truth about this country and like always, those who are living in the dark age, THEY HATE TO HEAR THE TRUTH about reality. I personal don't like pastor Warren, b/c I think that the Evangelist people are bigots and racist, just look at their followers, their all white and they don't agree with anything people of color agree with. This is just like a right wing nut like Elisabeth, they like when someone puts their ideals out in the spot light. Now Elisabeth is it ok for Rev. Wright to speak there to since Warren doesn't like gays and he's out spoken about that, Gee I guest it's ok for Warren but not Wright.

Yeah, I've never understood why everyone got so upset about Wright. His 'Chickens come home to roost' remark was critiquing the crimes the American Government had committed overseas, not any wrongs committed by the American People. And his 'God Damn America' remark was geared towards policies of the past and present which have dvivded the nation between rich and poor, black and white, natural born and immigrant. They were both bang on in my books but that friggin' blind patriotism which a large swatch of the American Public have been indoctrinated with causes that great knee-jerk reaction which leads to such events as killing an unarmed black man in New York because you assumed was a gangbanger to invading an entire country because you "assumed they wanted to attack the US." (quotes are intentionaly because there were obvious other motives)
