After eight years in the White House, President Bush's twin daughters are looking forward to a respite from Washington -- if only for their father's sake.

In a PEOPLE interview, Jenna Hager and Barbara Bush, both 27, reflect on the strain George W. Bush has been under. The twins also offer some advice to the Obamas' daughters, Sasha and Malia, and Jenna's new husband Henry Hager talks about bonding with the First Father-in-Law.

It's perfectly natural to be defensive of one's father, but
[
I think maybe I was a little naive about how people would treat him.
]
He started a war on the basis of fraud. The problem is not that people did not treat him as well as he deserved, it is that for so long, so many of us treated him so much better than he deserved. Generosity has its place. It is not politics.

[
But he's never wavered in his decisions...
]
He would have many times, if he had any intelligence or character.

It is not their fault that their father is a war criminal and that their mother is a lifeless gnome - they have two choices, stay in the bubble and skim along or venture outside and grow up.

Stupidity and ignorance is in the DNA of the Bush clan.

Ladies, my heart isn't bleeding for your old man. After what he has done to our once great country. No way, no how. Let he go back to TX. But once there I truly hope the worlds court will try him and Cheney for war crimes.

The stars at night, are big and bright, . .
The prairie sky is wide and high, . . .
The sage in bloom is like perfume,
deep in the heart of Texas

The coyotes wail, along the trail,
The rabbits rush, around the brush,
The cowboys cry, "Ki-yip-pee-yi,"
The dogies bawl, and bawl and bawl, blah blah . . .

Jenna Bush: " I think maybe I was a little naive about how people would treat him. But he's never wavered in his decisions and he's the same as he was when we were little, his ethics. So that's something to be proud of in itself."

I think the entire family is made up of sociopaths. Why isn't Jenna upset over how her father treated this country over the last 8 years. It is Dubya's arrogance and pig-headedness that hasn't changed.

If Dubya were my father I would disown him and change my name. If Dubya were my husband, I would divorce him. I wouldn't be able to sleep next to a man who could sleep peacefully for 8 years without once considering that he caused all the misery we are experiencing in this country today.

It's increasingly clear that the 2004 election was stolen through cyber-rigging of the Ohio vote by Karl Rove and others. http://www.velvetrevolution.us/prosecute_rove/ve/ . Now (Dec. 20, 2008) a key witness who reluctantly acknowledged facts damaging to Rove in a recent court-compelled deposition, and who was refused protection in spite of credible threats, has been killed in a suspicious "accident." Look for more about this in the MSM ... if they think they can take the heat.

Tell it to all of the Iraqi children who have lost mothers and fathers, limbs or their own lives in this war. Tell it to the children who waited for days for FEMA after Hurricane Katrina and are still waiting for some assistance in rebuilding their broken lives. And if there is any justice, you can tell it to the judge and jury when your father and his bunch are brought up on war crimes charges.

they are a little bit ignorant of what their father's policies have done to the country -- maybe they should read a paper or news magazine every now and then

I guess if you believe in your heart that your daddy "liberated" Iraq then their dismay is understandable.

Maybe liberals are born, not made. By age 9 I knew the Vietnam war was wrong, that Nixon was lying to the public about Watergate, and so on.

Conservatives apparently grow up believing everything they're told and believing authority figures no matter what the evidence otherwise.

When are the girls and Jenna's husband going to enlist in their father's righteous war? That is what is most unforgivable. He sacrificed other people's kids to his cause.

Now that's unfair. Recall that Bush did give up golfing for the Iraq war. And thinking. And compassion. And acting competent. And...

I guess she forgot Bush enjoyed 90% approval ratings before he started whittling it down to absolute political zero.

But I am glad Republicans think they do not have to listen to Americans when they govern... It makes them unelectable.
