I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The late night hosts may be getting ready to bid farewell to President Bush, but they sure don't seem like they want to see him go. In this week's all-Bush edition of late night jokes of the week, Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson make jokes about the shoe-throwing journalist (comparing him to American press and reminding him, "The pen is mightier than the shoe"), while Conan O'Brien relies on an old favorite theme, Bush's stupidity. Jimmy Kimmel focuses on Barney Cam, the Bush family's final holiday video, and David Letterman presents a shoe-throwing version of Great Moments in Presidential Speeches.

Let thee who is without having caused a wrongful preemptive war throw the first shoe

Ah, another bastion of white maledom - late night talk show hosts. When you line them up, it looks like a Republican TV debate during the primaries.

Say what you wish, but Bush is the only president in the history of the US that ever reached an approval rating higher than his IQ (0ver 80 in 2002)

Any number is bigger than his IQ.

Exactly, his disapproval numbers are higher than his IQ. I'd even be willing to say his shoe size ;) is bigger.

Do they count the IQ if it is in the negatives?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:52 PM on 12/22/2008

i'm certain that Barney has a higher IQ than bush.

The Barney segment is absolutely hilarious.

Craig's comment is really stupid.
Journalists have been writing about the horrors of the war - the numbers of civilians killed, the millions displaced - and our wonderful comatose evil in bed with Bush media don't say a word.

This man, throwing his shoe, brought some attention to the cause.

Of course, the media is spinning it like mad now. "How impolite. All we did is slaughter hundreds of thousands of innocent women, men and children - and this guy has the nerve to throw a shoe. If he is so annoyed, he should sit down and write something to someone."

Makes me sick.

These comics are like the court-jesters. They serve their corporate masters. Their function is to lull us into inaction while the people with power go right ahead with their dirty business.

Bush went to Iraq greeted as an occupier and and was showered with shoes.

Everybody loves Bush-bashing. Conservatives do because it takes the blame from them, the Democrats because it disguises their support for the same policies and special interests. However I would prefer stupid Bush to smart Cabinet members and neoconservative ideologues.

"However I would prefer stupid Bush to smart Cabinet members . . ."
I would prefer intelligent comments to stupid comments.

Yes, that's right. Democrats hate Bush because he supports their policies.

You is a genius.

I give the prize to Conan this week. So true, it hurt like political satire should.

And he avoided the obvious punch line (that I was expecting) about an autographed shoe....

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:13 PM on 12/20/2008

I thought the punchline was going to be "Yes they were all signed by Spaulding".

I recall that Kimmel supported the Iraq invasion and had the neocon Dennis Miller on during the first year after the invasion. He's since pretty much gone with the flow and his routines have been only somewhat critical of Bush's Iraq policy. Kimmel, although brilliantly funny in many other ways, hasn't been able to do effective political satire because it seems that he really doesn't know where he stands.

lol So true! He's been a nightmare to the country and the world, but a blessing to comedians.

A whole industry has been built around laughing at Bush.

Watching Bush unscipted is like watching somebody SNL goof on Bush. He doesn't need a Bush mimic like Will Ferrell. The man goofs on himself...

Bingo! Same goes for Sarah of Alaska!

Dealing with Bush I guess it boils down to a choice between turning the other cheek or throwing the other shoe.

The FBI is investigating Ed Sullivan: something to do with his saying "tonight we have a really big shoe for you." All threats are being taken seriously.

They're also pursuing Cuba Gooding, Jr. Something about "Shoe me the money!"

Ed Sullivan had a lot of "really big shoes" -- He must've been a size 12....

How about Krusty the Clown for his "NYPD Shoe" sketch. It's basically the same as his "Mad About Shoe" sketch.

This is a situation where it is better to laugh than to cry at what Bush has done.
