The 24-year-old RCA Dome, home of the Indianapolis Colts, was demolished this morning. The site will be used as an expansion for the adjacent Indiana Convention Center.

Indystar.com has details on the plans for the RCA Dome implosion:

>> About 800 holes have been drilled into the dome where explosive charges will be placed.

>> Some neighboring buildings will be covered with fabric to protect them from dust and debris.

>> Police will set up a large safety perimeter around the RCA Dome before its implosion.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. You want to disprove something, you have to get the report and find out what the structual engineers got wrong. But, you're going to need an education first. Why don't you start there.

Cmon people... 9-11 Truthers are you kidding me??? Did you ever once think that maybe that two Boeing 767's full of JET FUEL slammed into each tower going like 500 mph had anything to do with the WTC coming down.

I don't know, just a thought...

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!

yes at first........the you have to realize that planes dont fly 500mph at 1000 feet its impossible because of the wind resistance...

second most of the jet fuel burned off almost emmediately or those people wouldnt be standing in the holes........3rd...jet fuel is 4/5ths kerosine...propane burns hotter meaning your bbq would melt everytime you had a pary...........

you wake up!!!!!!!!!

Sigh...

It did not implode. It was made to collapse.

There is a difference-- a significant difference. It would be accurate to say the structure was explosively collapsed, since a sequence of explosive charges were implemented to allow gravity to prevail upon the stored energy in the structure (energy exerted in assembling it). "Implosion" is a misnomer, apparently borrowed by the demolition industry (or perhaps more likely coined by the popular media) to more floridly describe what in essence is nothing more than a technically sophisticated controlled collapse, i.e., release of stored energy.

let me get this straight - the misnomer was "borrowed by the demolition industry" .... if true whom was it then taken from? ones who have an intuitively obvious self right to use the word implosion "correctly" are people like? army officials, submariners, chemists, physicists, geologists, etc.. am I right there?

outside of that your post was exceedingly clear except I would have added more definition to the gravity part:

gravity is a manifestation of heat loss, that heat loss eventually being completely pulled into dark matter via dark energy and at a time when we as humans, will no longer exist in any way, shape or form - forever

We get that you know all the science. Implode Explode, Blown up, blown down. End result is the same.
So what about the Twin Towers did they get blown up or Structurally fail after the planes' impact?(pancake theory) and don't forget about the other WTC building that "collapsed" without being hit by a plane. OK go apply your best science to this question.

So how is this different from the Twin Towers falling down on their own footprint?

Oh.. I know... there was no little man with a bullhorn standing on the rubble.

I'm torn. I mean I like a good implosion as much as the next guy, but the expense of any stadium is huge. That said, how many of these "inflata-domes" are left in North America? BC Place Stadium will be replacing their roof with a retractable; the Kingdome in Seattle was imploded, nobody uses the Pontiac Silverdome anymore, the Vikings are the only tennant left in the Metrodome in Minneapolis and they're looking to get a new stadium. I think the only one still in use and without plans for either modification or abandonment is the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University. The inflatable domed stadium is an example of a failed technology so I can't really fault them for living with it for 24 years and getting rid of it.

Sorry , but for me at least , all the fun has been taken out of watching buildings come crushing down , since 911. No kick here.

With oil prices at record lows, it would have been foolish and feckless not to have used jet fuel which is only going for about $1.25 a gallon now.

The WTC towers were brought down by under 10,000 gallons of fuel which would cost only $12,500 instead of $20,000,000 or so using explosives like Thermite.

So I am pretty sure they used

thermite is an oxidizing incendiary. not an explosive. (youtube it)

Stop wasting our tax dollars on pro sports. Billionaires expect us to pay for the playground for their steroid apes to throw balls back and forth in? Take the money and build hospitals and schools.

Right on. How many millions did you spend on a facility that last just 24 years? And it was used what.....maybe 12 or 15 times a year (not counting rock concerts). And they built this ediface to lure a team from Baltimore, who lured a tead from Cleveland.

So, just 24 years later, they really "needed" a new stadium. Probably to keep the millionaire owners happy to make even more millions. Or what? They would move to another town.
How much did the new stadium cost, Indy? How much just to blow this thing up?

And by the way, how's your school system? I'm sure they could be in need of a few extra million.,

The reason that they built a new stadium in Indianapolis was, the old one did not have large enough sky boxes for owners and celebs etc.

You do realize they most of these new stadium initiatives on ballots, and 9 out of 10 times they'll pass rather easily.
