US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald To Receive Honorary Degree
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald is scheduled to give the midyear commencement address at Bradley University in central Illinois.
The university in Peoria will award Fitzgerald an honorary doctorate during Saturday's ceremony.
It's not clear whether he'll discuss the recent federal corruption charges filed against Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich. If he doesn't, he'll still have plenty of other material from which to draw.
His investigation of the disclosure of the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame led to the conviction of Lewis "Scooter" Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.
He also won the conviction of the previous Illinois governor, Republican George Ryan, now in prison for racketeering.
