I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Arnold Schwarzenegger

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger tells "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley that he would "absolutely" like to be U.S. president if the Constitution could be changed to allow foreign-born Americans to run for the White House.

"Well, you're a man of no small ambition. If the Constitution was changed, you'd like to be president, wouldn't you?" Pelley asked.

"Yeah, absolutely," Schwarzenegger acknowledged. "I think that I am always a person that looks for the next big goal. And I love challenges. I always set goals that are so high, that are almost impossible to achieve. Because then, you're always hungry for climbing and climbing. Because it's always interesting. The climb is always interesting. When you get there you just have to pick another goal."

Schwarzenegger also reveals one of his classic weight-lifting tricks: put smaller weights on for the camera and use wooden plates to make it seem as if you're lifting more:

"I mean, when you do it for the cameras you do only 50, so you take it easy. You don't kill yourself," Schwarzenegger replied, laughing.

Asked if that's the trick, Schwarzenegger said, "Oh yeah. Absolutely. I remember when I did this scene in 'Stay Hungry' at the squats with Sally Fields watching there. And I had to do it over and over again. And I had 225 pounds on it, as I learned very quickly, put on wooden plates."

Baybrook says that it is a good idea. Hey, he can't do a lot worse than he has. I just think that inspite of the many complaints I even have, there all about the same (politicians). He seems a mid-liner anyway.

No matter who is in government,, we all complain. I suppose that Arnold is as good as anyone else would be. He has not even taken a salary, which is more than I can say for some. Politicians don't have the control we think, just puppets. But, at least it gives us the idea that we have a say and therefore gives us continued hope. That is a lot more than many countries have.

did 60minutes show arnold's war against state workers and unions? california's political machine is the most rigged in the nation and the people who tried to clean it up were bounced.

connecticut has LIEberman but California has the most corrupt political system of the 50 states. They recalled the last decent governor they had and installed Arnold with rigged machines. now the neoCon press is trying to make the case for a foreigner.

The U.S. has been having a wild party for a decade as banks have been financing all those that needed credit. This has produced a boom for business as the registers rang and homes were sold to every applicant. The states hired millions of new employees to meet that boom and now that the bubble has burst the state needs money for the salaries of those new employees. Where can the state get it??

Consumer taxes are a last resort to feed hungry governments at the expense of the majority of the population who are barely surviving. This is wrong because it is a cruel way of making taxpayers of those with small incomes. The fairest way for the government to support itself is by reducing the salaries of overpaid employees and laying off those that are not needed. But it is easier for politicians to bully the poor and weak so the cruel consumer taxes will soon be put into force. The outcome will be billions bled from the pockets of the most needy and poverty increased to a new level.

Why change the Constitution when you can just ignore it?

Every athlete, and even this former occasional weight-lifter, knows that you train more strenuously than you perform. Runners train with ankle weights, and batters take warm-up swings with weight 'donuts' on their bats. Schwarzenegger talks about common knowledge like it's his proprietary, intellectual property. He thinks like the people who have ruined the United States, not like the people who can rebuild it.

Also, too much of his "political" career has been self-flattering reminiscence of his glory days as a meathead.

Maybe Ahh-nold should be a bit more worried about his state's impending bankruptcy than running for an office he's presently not even legally qualified to hold.

On the other hand, he is one of like 3 or 4 GOPers that are at least somewhat in tune with reality...

Not a chance, California wont vote for him, he's a horrible governor. He went to Ohio to campaign for McCain, he's raising taxes and help cause an increase in the deficit. He hasn't even been able to bring money back to our state even though we pay the most in taxes, to support other states like Alaska.

Not only that, with the Right conjuring up stories of falsified Obama birth certificates, why would they'd want a foreigner to be president? That's another thing, the Constitution prohibits it because there always lies some bit of loyalty or favoritism to one's homeland. George Washington knew this. It's funny how Republ;icans can talk about amending the constitution when it is advantageous for them.

They'd sell out the fabric of America for their guy to get in the White House, more loyal to their party and big business than to Americans.

Sorry Arnie. It's against the Constitution, and it isn't gonna be changing. California is in the sh*tter. Why don't you focus on that and get your head out of the clouds.

It takes a LOT more then a governor of a state to cause an entire state to go broke. I don't believe he did anything in particular to cause that to be honest. This is the result of decades worth of issues caused by both democrats and republicans. It's very simple in the end. When you spend more money then you take in you will go broke. California is a HUGE state with I'm sure a HUGE illegal population. There are hard working people within that population but lets be honest. While they may work and pay taxes (a good number don't), and this goes for a large number of the legal population as well, what they pay in to the system (which likely can be less then you'd normally play if some were legal) most certainly will not be equal to what is taken out for services, hospitals, roads, etc... Add a horrible economy and that makes the situation even worse and could very well have speed up this process where as before it might have still been taking place but very slowly.
