I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Arnold Schwarzenegger

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger tells "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley that he would "absolutely" like to be U.S. president if the Constitution could be changed to allow foreign-born Americans to run for the White House.

"Well, you're a man of no small ambition. If the Constitution was changed, you'd like to be president, wouldn't you?" Pelley asked.

"Yeah, absolutely," Schwarzenegger acknowledged. "I think that I am always a person that looks for the next big goal. And I love challenges. I always set goals that are so high, that are almost impossible to achieve. Because then, you're always hungry for climbing and climbing. Because it's always interesting. The climb is always interesting. When you get there you just have to pick another goal."

Schwarzenegger also reveals one of his classic weight-lifting tricks: put smaller weights on for the camera and use wooden plates to make it seem as if you're lifting more:

"I mean, when you do it for the cameras you do only 50, so you take it easy. You don't kill yourself," Schwarzenegger replied, laughing.

Asked if that's the trick, Schwarzenegger said, "Oh yeah. Absolutely. I remember when I did this scene in 'Stay Hungry' at the squats with Sally Fields watching there. And I had to do it over and over again. And I had 225 pounds on it, as I learned very quickly, put on wooden plates."

Here's a thought, when the up coming depression, causes the US, to break up, just like the old Soviet Union did, maybe you could be president of the California, Oregon, Washington Republic instead.

Californians wonder "where is Grey Davis now that we really need him?"

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:49 PM on 12/21/2008

He wasn't a great Governor, but he wasn't a bad Governor. Unlike Arnold and Bush, both of whom served in the military, Davis was a genuine hero of the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star

You guys sound really idiotic if you are trying to blame him for the California economic meltdown, and rather immature if you are criticizing his accent. All-in-all I'm a democrat and don't respect his policy positions on social issues, but to blame him for the economic mess there is absurd....just as absurd as if the Republicans tried to blame Obama for it in 2-4 years.

The leader is the first to be blamed.

what about all those bonds he pushed? He was WARNED and thought he knew best. I totally blame him. California would be hurting now yes, but not like this.

I'm not from California -- but, I do have a question.

If California is so deep in the hole, where did all of the property tax go from all of those inflated prices on homes-- and how does a state like California, home of Beverly Hills and Orange County become forced into borrowing so much money to cover services?

Property taxes in CA are very weird and complicated. You can have people living next to each, with homes of the same value, and have one person pay a couple of thousand of dollars and the other pay ten thousand dollars.

And don't even get me started on commercial property taxes!!!!

And you have your head in the sand. The governor was elected on an economic platform. He boasted for two years about how his policies would reduce the red. That's the problem with Schwarzenegger, his puffed-out chest isn't all muscle.

One grade-B-movie-star governor from California already was one too many.

But I did think Governor Schwarzenegger would have made the ideal running mate for Senator McCain.

Actually, the Governor has shown a very important insight to his personality.

Whenever the cameras are on, fake it.

Don't really lift the weights. Don't really do the work. Just make it LOOK like you're really doing it.

It's very much how he has run Caw-li-for-knee-ya.

Thank GOD we won't amend the Constitution in time to allow this jerk to run for President.

fraud.

use steroids to build muscles and deceive those watching what muscles contribute to strength.

besides that, he has been a complete bust as governor.

CA. is in worse shape then the rest of the country.

though i do expect every other state to catch up.

he has zero answers.

In all seriousness if he wants a big goal to conquer he should work on thinning out that accent of his.

There is no such thing as an politician lacking ambition, but Schwarzenegger is right up there among the leaders (though a leader he is not).
