I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Arnold Schwarzenegger

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger tells "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley that he would "absolutely" like to be U.S. president if the Constitution could be changed to allow foreign-born Americans to run for the White House.

"Well, you're a man of no small ambition. If the Constitution was changed, you'd like to be president, wouldn't you?" Pelley asked.

"Yeah, absolutely," Schwarzenegger acknowledged. "I think that I am always a person that looks for the next big goal. And I love challenges. I always set goals that are so high, that are almost impossible to achieve. Because then, you're always hungry for climbing and climbing. Because it's always interesting. The climb is always interesting. When you get there you just have to pick another goal."

Schwarzenegger also reveals one of his classic weight-lifting tricks: put smaller weights on for the camera and use wooden plates to make it seem as if you're lifting more:

"I mean, when you do it for the cameras you do only 50, so you take it easy. You don't kill yourself," Schwarzenegger replied, laughing.

Asked if that's the trick, Schwarzenegger said, "Oh yeah. Absolutely. I remember when I did this scene in 'Stay Hungry' at the squats with Sally Fields watching there. And I had to do it over and over again. And I had 225 pounds on it, as I learned very quickly, put on wooden plates."

Yeah the Arnold loves the challenge to get there but when it comes to performance when he gets in office he's not to big on effectively governing. All he has done is fail at his job and blame everything on the Democrats like most Republicans in office.

He'll admit that California has problems, but it's not anything he's done. He's trying his best, but people just aren't cooperating with him.

We're supposed to admire him because he is a big man with big goals. Hmmmmm.

The "big goals" part sounds like Sarah Palin. I guess that means that "Ahhnold" would need to have Sarah Palin as a running mate. Neither one lets reality or qualifications get in the way of their dreams.

Freedonia may have an opening for you Ahnold, but Groucho is way out of your league in every way.

He was supposed to ride in on that white horse and rescue us from Gray Davis. Things are worse now.
Whenever things go wrong, like not meeting a budget deadline, he blames democrats in Sacramento.
He won't take any responsibility for the mess California is in. It's just the legislators who disagree with him, that's why there are problems.

If you don't do a great job as governor, why would you even consider a loftier goal such as becoming president? Narcissism, I guess.

No, it's not a good idea to change the Constitution to suit the political ambitions of one person. And Schwarzenegger wouldn't get nominated anyway, as he doesn't seem to be particularly liked by either Democrats or conservative Republicans. A stupid and self-centered idea.

I'm sure Arnie wants to be a good actor, too. But some things are just not
meant to be.

All he needs for the job is a few rec letters from his Kennedy-in-laws. If the Kennedy family say it can be so, it is so!

We don't need him in any more public offices period. He sent out a letter to all California state workers in rank and file positions at 3:30 last Friday. It informed us that as of February 1, 2009, our wages would be cut 10% and everyone in the bottom 20% of seniority would be put on a layoff list. So basically he's making the people that WORK for a living pay for the screw ups of a state legislature that is basically getting a slap on the wrist in return. They voted themselves a 30% raise a couple of years ago, while we rank and file employees got 5%. Now he's taking 10% away from us in the form or work fuloughs and the oh-so-magnanimous legislature is taking a 5% cut. I'm sure 5% of a 100K a year salary is no where near as hard as a 10% cut in pay for a person that only makes 30K. And nobody on the top is in danger of being laid off - just us worker bees.

No thank you, Arnold - we don't need your version of governance in the Whitehouse EVER.

Maria wouldn't even endorse him or vote for him! Ask Arnie how things are going in California!
