AllThingsD:

What are people buying on Amazon (AMZN) and other electronic storefronts? Fewer flat screen TVs, Comscore says, either because promotional discounts have tapered off, or because everyone who needs a 42″ LCD on their wall has already got one.

Meanwhile, I'm not sure what constitutes an online "Sports and Fitness" purchase, but Comscore says people have been making many more of them this year, because the category is up 31%. Music, movies and videos are much more familiar, and much less popular. Sales are down 24%, which mirrors what Best Buy (BBY) said about its brick and mortar sales for the same goods earlier this month.

Oh my! How terrible! What Earth shattering news! How will anyone anywhere ever survive that fact that mass consumerism of unneeded overpriced junk didn't skyrocket as in year's past? How will we ever pay our overpriced execs even more outrageous bonuses? Oh my, we'll have to cut back on our holiday party on the mega-yacht with hot and cold running you-know-what. Whatever is the country going to do? Come on everyone, get out to the malls now and spend, spend, spend!

A 1% decline in on-line Christmas sales?

Where is the Great Depression of 2008?

The NBER will tell you. Just wait for it. They got around to telling you when we were in Recession, remember? I don't think 2008 qualifies, but if you go back to the 30's they didn't include 1929 either.

On line sales were expecting still just a month ago to be up double digits... its still a high growth market... till now... In otherwords online sales are down by 15%-20% compared to even bad projections.

Regards

Never buy any warranty from Best Buy or other store.
Most credit cards will give you up to additional free year warranty on the product as long as you use the card to purchase that product on.

Extra warranties are a cash grab and they're never extra.
They tell you that it's a 4 year plan, but they're already including the original manufacturer's warranty, so really, it's only 3 years, plus the 1 that comes with the product.

How about 1/2 percent interest on credit cards for those on Main Street if you want to jack up Xmas sales?
