Pat

In an interview with CNN's Suzanne Malveaux, conservative Pat Robertson said he was "remarkably pleased" with President-elect Barack Obama. Not so for President Bush, who he blames for the economic crisis. On President Bush:

ROBERTSON: Well, it's hard to assess blame, but I -- over the years -- I hate to be critical, I mean I am a Republican, and this is the president of the party that I'm a member of -- but I think we've had some serious goofs along the way. The Katrina matter was terrible. The rebuilding of Iraq has been terrible. The hailing (ph) of the economy right now has been terrible.

It hasn't been handled in what I would consider a professional manner.

MALVEAUX: How would you grade the president in light of all of the -- the laundry list that you just listed there?

ROBERTSON: Well you know, history may accord him a higher grade than his contemporaries and I think he's hoping for that, and we are.

But I believe I would look at about a C-minus right now if I were grading him.

On President-elect Obama:

MALVEAUX: Are you looking forward to an Obama administration? A change?

ROBERTSON: I am remarkably pleased with Obama. I had grave misgivings about him. But so help me, he's come in forcefully, intelligently. He's picked a middle of the road cabinet. And so far, if he continues down this course, he has the makings of a great president.

So, I'm very pleased so far.

This is where the neck hair should rise and a growl grow from your gullet- when the rethugs get nice, they're scheming. These snakes bear watching. Or as the Trojan's would say "beware Greeks bearing gifts".

Good point.

I hope Obama realizes they're just trying to lull him into a false sense of security.

The knives are coming out, for sure.

You mean "Trojans" as the plural form, I assume. I'm not sure the Trojans would have said that, since the Greeks pretty much ate their lunch, according to legend.

Meanwhile, why is is that you and others somehow believe that Obama is being lulled into a false sense of security by Robertson, Warren, and all these other right-wing evangelical tele-ministers? Why is it that you cannot see that Obama knows exactly what's going on which if played correctly (and there is zero reason to believe otherwise), the Democrats will gain handsomely as he assumes office next month and in the 2010 mid-term election.

The evangelicals do not know what to make of Obama and have been completely thrown off balance because Obama is not behaving like the typical Democratic punching bag they were so accustomed to smacking around.

So, relax, take a deep breath, go for a walk, clear your head, enjoy the holidays -- "Change gonna come" (Sam Cooke).

Maybe it's because Pat is concerned about global warming. Still I'll never be any fan of him.

Fundamentalism goes roughly in 25 year cycles in the U.S. (This last 'fundie' cycle began in 1979.) Pat has seen the graffito on the wall. "God is a liberal."

Finally! Now they can stop the fear mongering and be rational. Barry was never the evil doer they made him out to be. I found it hard to believe they could be so hard on Obama considering the fiasco of the Bush years. Now, the blinders are started to be removed. The fog is lifting. Took 'em long enough

Pat Robertson endorses Obama. We are in deep doo-doo now.

Ah Grasshopper, we have a new president now, and he is wise in the ways of the spirit world. He knows not to resist but to go with the flow, and the power of that position. He will do great things and unite our tribes and country.

What's wrong, Pat? The economic crisis hit your flock and they're not opening them purse-strings wide enough for you? Feelin' the pinch? Awwwww

Shock of all shocks... Obama is more intelligent than Bush, and therefore is picking better cabinet members. Not "middle of the road" cabinet members, but really remarkable ones, actually.

Wow! What can I say? Coming from Pat Robertson, you gotta be kidding me. He wouldn't say that about McCain.

That was my first reaction when I saw that interview. My next one was to wonder why CNN was asking Pat Robertson to talk about the economy. I guess people like Krugman aren't available to discuss it. Oh wait, my phone's ringing . . . it's CNN, asking me to talk about the price of oil!

Pat Robertson is the only Republican, that I'm aware of, that has even bothered to mention the disasterous "rebuilding of Iraq."

Oh good. Someone should tell Obama we didn't vote for him so Warren and Robertson would be saying nice things about him. He is lying down with the dogs of the RR and he is going to get up with fleas. The Warren invocation thing was a mistake and he should do something to correct giving this fa.t clown a national pulpit at the inaugural and he should be really uneasy that Robertson is saying nice things. It is one thing to reach out to people and another to be co opted by them

"... we didn't vote for him so Warren and Robertson would be saying nice things about him."

So let me try to understand this! You voted for Obama so people with whom we have disagreed and with whom he fundamentally disagrees, will say terrible things about him? And when someone with whom you disagree says something nice about you, they've "co-opted" you?

What were you voting for? A President ... or a clone of your own pettiness?

My own pettiness is is? No I think pro choice men and women and gays have been stung by Obama's thoughtlessness in having Warren give the Invocation. It was a mistake.

This is one of Pat's more lucid moments. They must have raised the dosage on his meds.
