Coffee

LiveScience.com:

Caffeine affects men more strongly than women, new research reportedly shows.

However, the same study found that while decaf coffee perks up both of the sexes, it affects women more.

The results come from a University of Barcelona study of caffeine's effects on 668 university students, with an average age of 22. Measurements were taken before and after the caffeine was ingested. Tests were carried out at between 11 am to 1 pm, as well as between 4pm to 6pm, to check for differences caused by the time of day.

Your spirit is not male or female. Body are male or femail. Beyond he shell of body lies ones true nature with or without caffine. As some can maintain their body without food and other can eat mountains of food with no effect.

I am sure this is the same with caffine. But the purpose is not to indulge the senses, but to overcome them.

But that is each of our own trip, this material life or next, Karma of bad Caffine can die with the body or the habit can live in our own Karma till we snuff it out

The study is limited to 22-year-old participants (still a significant improvement over previous studies which focused on college-age males only). I believe women's reaction to caffeine changes over time due to the changes in their hormonal balance. It is well-established that menopausal women have more difficulty sleeping than men of the same age group and women of other age groups, due to hormonal fluctuations. I believe (although cannot provide cites) that menopausal women also report much stronger reactions to caffeine in the diet. Also, pregnant women, or women trying to get pregnant have a noticeably greater sensitivity to caffeine, and are usually warned to lower their intake (1) during pregnancy, and (2) before the onset of their menstrual periods, as they otherwise tend to get harmless breast lumps which disappear when caffeine intake is reduced. However such lumps do cause pain and tenderness and can interfere with (what ought to be regular) breast self-exams for cancer.

Not sure about the headline's use of "effect".
