I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The homeless and hungry outside the Emmanuel Dining Room on Christmas Eve did not expect to have a security wand waved up and down their bodies as they waited to be served lunch.

But then, it isn't often that a vice president-elect of the United States serves them their meal.

In contrast to Cheney, who only served himself and his corrupt friends.

Thank you Joe Biden for being an example to us all to get out and give of ourselves to those who are in need. It's not about how much money you make, give, etc. It's about what you actually take the time to do. Everyone talks about the less fortunate and how we all need to "reach out". I wonder how many of the people who have speculated about you intentions or attempted to cast doubts about what your charitable contibutions, actually reached out tohelp someone in need? You're out there and I appreciate you for that!

The Bidens reported giving $995 in charitable donations last year " about 0.3% of their income and the highest amount in the past decade. The low was $120 in 1999, about 0.1% of yearly income.

Over the decade, the Bidens reported a total of $3,690 in charitable donations, or 0.2% of their income.

There is more things you can do besides giving money, like that nice piece of legislation that protects woman and put police on the streets. Can he have this day without you bringing uo how much money he gave in the past!!

Isn't it possible to just admit your guys, Biden and Obama haven't not been at all charitable and not make excuses?

Let's look at that contribution in respect to net worth.

According to politicheck.com, VPE Biden has a net worth of $278,000. You are correct. His contribution of $995 (if that is accurate) come out to .357% of his net worth leaving him $277,000.

According to Drudge, Dick Cheney has a net worth of $94,000,000 (this being very conservative). The Cheneys' donated $300,000 in their 2004 disclosures. This comes out to .319% of their net worth and leaves him with a paltry $93,700,000.

I don't know about you folks, but I feel much better about the Bidens' donation of $995 then of Cheneys' $300,000.

Cheney isn't the one saying giving up hard earned cash is patriotic. Biden should lead by example and file a tax return with no deductions.

Is everything about money for you? Charity is vast. Looking through people's tax returns or parroting Repub blather, cherry-picking details to pen an inaccurate accounting of a good man and his family? This has debunked often. Perhaps you need to move on...

Best not to rely on blogs/media offering complete information. As the least or second least wealthy Sen: "Like most regular churchgoers, they [Bidens] contribute to their church, and they also contribute to their favorite causes with their time as well as their checkbooks, whether it"s [Jill] Biden"s volunteer work with military families or the Biden breast-health initiative, or the way in which the family pitched in driving supplies to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, or the ways Sen. Biden has supported charities that help women, police, and veterans." The NR article goes on...I personally learn more about a person or family before I try to slander them. My favorite contribution by Joe is his years fighting to get "Violence against Women" act passed. Part of his job, yes, but he fought hard and I am grateful. He has done much more, he does not need defending. Joe's family has been modest about publicity to their charitable contributions. He is going to do much more for American people. Selfless contributions by Mr. Biden are well-known...at least by anyone who takes the time to really learn about our VP-elect and his family. Our nation is fortunate to have him.

In other words, Biden is another do as I say and not as I do Democrat. He says paying more taxes is patriotic yet did not pass up one exemption on his returns. And I notice after the big O got his millions for his books, his brother and aunt lived in tenamant squaler.

What percentage of your income did you contribute to charity last year? Just curious . . .

The man has the intellect and power to make a lot more money than he has been making as a senator. He does the job because he loves it and the people he represented voted him in year and year because they love what he does for them. He accepts the lower income it affords, than he could otherwise be making.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who works full time (even with pay) in public service is just as valuable to society as charity donations.

Not only will we have intelligent, honest people back in the White House, but people who actually care for the least of these. Their families are great too.

Bush, Cheney, and their ilk would never do something like this.

Cheney donates more than 50 percent of his annual earnings to charity. Biden donates less than 2 percent.

Mafioso also contribute to charity by giving away some of their ill gotten wealth. How much of this "charity" gets written off at tax time?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:59 PM on 12/26/2008

Biden has a net worth (not counting his house) of 278,000 on the high side.

Cheney has a net worth of $94,000,000 (on the conservative side).

Biden donated $995 last year according to you or .357% of his net worth.

Cheney donated $300,000 in 2004 (only year I could find info on) or .317% of his net worth.

This leaves Biden $277,005.

This leaves Cheney a paltry $93,700,000. (not including the sizable charitable tax deduction)

Your point is?????
