Ynetnews:

The Israeli Air Force struck a total of 100 Hamas targets in Gaza on Saturday with the launching of the operation dubbed 'Cast Lead.' Palestinian medical officials have reported at least 225 people killed in the Israeli strikes.

The IDF has also begun mobilizing tanks and reinforcement infantry troops to the Gaza region in the event a ground incursion is ordered. In an interview with the British SKY network, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that ground forces would indeed enter the Strip if the move was deemed necessary by Jerusalem.

this is all a ruse...Israel will likely attack Iran within a week for "siding with Hamas". Tragic.

What is the war about? Why the killings of innocent people?

Stealing their land. You know, like we did with the Native Americans.

Come on Hizbullah and Iran, where are you? Syria? Hello? No answer anywhere in the Arab world. Why not cutoff oil to the West?

If I was a Palestinian I would remove my leaders because they are losers. Israel withdrew from Gaza years ago with every intention of helping to make the new reality work. But it didn't because still still after all these years they can' get it together to build a state, preferring then intoxicating drum beats of war.

Now they have their war. They got what they asked, even prayed for. God granted them what they aspire. Holy war! Now come on out and fight your holy war and stop complaining.

There will not be a ground incursion, too costly.

Stop the lying in effort to circumvent and neutralize the reality: the CORRECT term is INVASION.

Israel would faces the same occupation dilemma that the US now faces in Iraq.

20 IAF aircraft struck 50 Palestinian rocket launchers in an effort to minimize Hamas' retaliatory strikes. The targets that were hit included training camps and installations as well as police stations, some of whom were located in civilian buildings.
The strikes follow a decision by the security cabinet to intensify Israel's response to cross-border attacks on Israel.

Several hours ago there were rumors of an Israeli ground assault on Gaza,

One source commented that the intense violence of the F-16 attacks were a softening-up as a prelude to ground operations.

The Bush White House has blamed Hamas for the violence and is the only government that has not urged restraint. The comment by White House spokesman, Gordon Johndroe, could only be described as inflammatory. It would appear that Mr. Bush has green-lighted the Israeli attack from the get/go.

The atmospherics are eerily similar to the assault on Lebanon in 2006. One can assume that the Israelis and the IDF want to make amends for the bloody nose they received from Hezbollah in that endeavor. Gaza would be an easier payback with a population that is isolated, starved and in a confined space. The intensity of the continuing air strikes would further weaken the frail Gaza infrastructure and devastate its populace. The Israeli tactic of wide spread dissemination of cluster b 0b s, if deployed, would affect the civilian population of Gaza for years to come. The moral question is: "What price victory?"

Ynet is a disinformation site for the Mossad. Are you guys going to depend on them for "fair and balanced" coverage? I recommend you proceed with extreme caution and check your sources. This entire affair is being carefully managed in the press.

Excellent point. Since the first air strike, all news, "facts" and witness accounts are controlled by the Israeli forces. Gaza has been isolated and has gone dark.

Most Arab countries wish Hamas would just go away. It's hard to develop any kind of economy with these men around. All they wish and plan for is turmoil. Israel is not just going to disappear.

Exactly -- conflict is big business. Ongoing conflict is very much in Is-rael's interests, or at least in the interest of the power elite and to maintain the status quo. It is also in the interest of some who currently have power among the Pali-s-tin-ans.

That is why Is-r-ae-l created H-a-ma-s. Look it up.

We are all suckers.

Rather than all this pointless fighting and effort, wouldn't it make more sense for Israel to accept the Arab League peace proposal and go back to the '67 borders. Isn't it worth a shot at least? If the Palestinians have an actual state, they'll have real control and be accountable to the WORLD community. If the Arab states have relations (and trade) with Israel their hostility will decline (as it did after Israel made peace with Egypt and Jordan). Even Iran will grudgingly have to go along and Hezbollah will not longer have a reason to exist. Instead it's the same policies that have failed for the past 4 decades and stupid short-sighted special interest controlled US policies that have also failed. But then we still have an embargo on Cuba thinking THAT's going to work one day too. Mind boggling, truly. Here's hoping this post makes it past the HP censors as I haven't been having much luck lately!

The victims are the Palestinians, not those backed by the US with cash and weapons. Stop repeating the racist anti-Palestinian/Arab/brown people hate-propaganda.
