As If Things Weren't Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End Of US

MOSCOW -- For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media.

In recent weeks, he's been interviewed as much as twice a day about his predictions. "It's a record," says Prof. Panarin. "But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger."

Interesting take on the trend towards anarchy.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, if the US breaks up the other "super-states" (European Union, Russia & China) would also disintegrate, and the world economy would be in shambles for years.

The map image was arguably laughable. The man (Mr.Panarin) obviously does not know the American people at all. He makes the same errors made by the Soviets (and the USA) during the cold war. He thinks in monolithic terms--a macroscopic view of the "enemy" and not a microscopic view of the constituent parts which make up the whole. And he seems to believe his own propaganda.

That had more to do with West Virginia wanting to be it's own state than wanting to side with the North, the Civil War just provided an opportunity for them to do something they had been wanting to do for years.

Wow, someone from Russia predicting the end of America how original. I think Russia in the 90s was far closer to collapse and Obama will fix the economy. He has concrete plans to fix this country and even Republicans are impressed with the transition. Frankly, this this is just ridiculous, if it does happen I will laugh hysterically.
