WSJ:

President Bush giveth, and then he taketh away. And now the question is: Can Isaac Toussie get it back?

The answer: At the very least, Toussie, the Brooklyn real estate developer whose pardon was revoked on Wednesday, just 24 hours after Bush issued it, has a good case.

Why is he even doing pardons? Remember Texas where he never met an execution order that he didn't like..Think about that, an execution, he would not even turn them into life sentences let alone pardon or commute them....

I say let them set the precedent of a President revoking pardons. Then when Obama gets into office he can revoke the soon to be seen blanket pardons that will be issued for the Bush Administration.

How sweet the sound.

just a plausible deniability stunt by the Bushies, and the GOP...they knew that pardons are irrevocable. Too bad they couldn't recall the invasion force, sent into Iraq, when they learned of no WMD

You people were not listening. Just this week Cheney said that in wartime nothing the President does is illegal. Who you going to believe, Cheney or the Constitution?

I AM THE PRESIDENT.

That has been his refrain to this point with every illegality he has committed.

Why stop now? Because he wants the pardon to go thru.

What??? Did Toussie up the ante?? You remember dubya said he needed to 'fill the ol' coffers' after he left DC. You know how bad the economy is these days and him without a job. And do you think there will be many offers of speeches? Much revenue from his memoirs? Not so much.

I don't think the pardon can be taken away. The President is granted the power of the pardon by the Constitution but there is no mention of what Bush is attempting to do.

If a President can override a pardon, can Ford's pardon of Nixon be overrided by Obama next month? Of course not, since that would contradict the Constitutional power of the pardon itself.

Exactly!! It's the office of President that has the power to grant pardons. If Bush had the power to override a pardon, so to could Obama and all future Presidents. Toussie will win his case and in the process remove all doubt of the incompetence of the GWB Presidency.

Pardonnez-moi mais vous avez mal placé votre cerveau, M. Bush.

It sounds like once Mr. Toussie got his pardon unconditionally, it stays. After all, it was publicly delivered.

Wouldn't there have to be some type of due process in order to reinstate the charges, or convictions?

I hope that this can be reversed for Bush should have done his homework prior to issuing the pardon in the first place. This pardon should not be revoked but implemented as originally ordered.

I actually hope the guy can not overturn the revoked pardon,...

I wouldn't mind seeing the revocation of a Presidential pardon happen, and be upheld in a court.

It might be a good precedent for overturning any Pardons that Bush might make of his own people on the way out the door. Say for example,.... VP Dick(head) Cheney's?

Am I guessing right?

Of all the things they might have (but didn't) criticize regarding President Pan's blithe disregard for the Constitution (save for that important bit in the Second Amendment), the MSM will now draw the line on whether Pan can "revoke" a pardon.

I believe "L'etat c'est moi" is the relevant bon mot here.
