I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hasn't yet said anything publicly about her 4-day-old grandson, Tripp, but she does want people to know that Tripp's parents - her eldest daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston - are hard at work and keeping up with school.

"You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time," Palin told PEOPLE in a phone message Wednesday. "They are certainly not high school dropouts."

Let me translate this; "I am a proud grandmother of unmarried god-fearing christian teen parents who followed my advice on not to be educated on the use of birth control because I know if they don't know how to use birth control, then I am confident they won't have teen-sex.

Sarah, your governorship is a joke, your run for VP was a bigger joke, your entire life is one big hypocritical joke

Something is fishy here. According to the Anchorage Daily News website, by federal regulations one must be a high school graduate to enroll in an electrical apprentice program such as the North Slope's. Levi Johnston is not a high school graduate but is enrolled in that program. How is that possible? The 'special friend of Palin' exception? See this link: http://www.adn.com/opinion/comment/story/641263.html.

Interesting that the director of the program, Bo Underwood, confirmed Johnston is indeed enrolled as an apprentice, but claimed not to know whether a high school diploma is needed to be an ASRC apprentice! He promised to check on that and get back to the reporter. Let's not hold our breath.

Let's hope they don't just blow through the 300 grand thinking that all they have to do is have another kid and "poof" easy money again. Somehow I think this well has gone dry.

It seems there are a lot of questions concerning Levi's employment. Has SaRahRahRah stuck her foot in her mouth yet AGAIN???? I think SOMEONE is in BIG trouble!!

Does Palin once again think the rules don't apply to her?

Sarah Palin's voice and comments are dissonant to the truth. If I try to follow what she is saying, it makes no sense, but it is her own idea of not speaking coherently. If there is a rule that someone who takes this electrician's course (probably sponsored by the state or federal gov't) and she gets him in although he did not complete h.s., which is a prerequisite, she answers: How can you speak ill of him when he is trying to get a job? Well, there are lots of people who would like to train as electricians, for no money down, and who must have that h.s. degree and do not have his pull with the governor and may never have a chance to get the training. How does she dare to speak such lies?

I commend them for "working their butts off,' but all the attention that the Palin family keeps seeking is just not right. They say they that it is a private matter but they never miss a chance to make it public. These two young people should not be rewarded with money for pictures of their baby. They are no better than any other young couple who find themselves in this position. To make them seem like something special is just wrong. They are not the only two people who ever kept a baby. It happens all day every day.

"I can see a few passed out drunks and a meth lab from Bristol's hospital room." Sarah Palin

I wonder how they will handle Christmas celebrations. Will they allow Tripp to do sleep overs with his paternal Granny?

This just keeps getting better. Levi needs a HS diploma or GED in order to enroll in the apprentice program. Wonder how he got in?

Sorry, but that's just wrong. In order to apply for an electrical apprenticeship in Alaska you need one of three things:
1. High School Diploma
2. GED
3. HSQGE (High School graduation qualification exam) which all Alaskan High School Sophomores take

Levi probably has #3.

If High School Graduation Qualification Exam really is abbreviated HSQGE in Alaska, I'm hugely worried about the state your education system might be in.

Correct me if my FACTS ARE WRONG. You drop out of High School You're a HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT. You're home schooled... You're not a high schooler. I'm not sure what you call a home schooler who gets a diploma, but a high schooler who does is called a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE. A person who gets a GED isn't considered a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE. A person who drops out of high school and gets a GED, has a GED but is STILL NOT a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE! Someone like my daughter who dropped out of high school at 15, then went back to high school/summer school and graduated (at almost age 20) after she would have graduated had she stayed in school, BECAME A HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE. Or you can say she's a drop out who became a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE if that makes you feel better. A person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child, is by dictionary definition a "B*st*rd". I'd be willing to bet, anyone with the patience/tenacity to comb you-tube could find many right-wing pundits, right wing politicians and supposed "Christian" leaders who were/are HIGHLY CRITICAL of this sort of behavior. Myself, I could care less, but I find it funny when those who espouse their own qualifications and/or religious views as being somehow more RIGHTEOUS than mine, reside in houses of single pane glass and rule from castles made of sand.

"Couldn't care less."

They are both high school drop outs. A GED is not the same thing. Now, if they both go to college and acquire degrees or participate in certificate programs, I'd say they redeemed themselves.

My understanding is that in order to sit for the GED, you must have been out of high school at least six months.

It's alot easier to work, and go to school, and parent when you are NOT living on your own like I suspect these two aren't. Maybe these two should have thought about how hard it would be and been working AT going to school to graduate BEFORE becoming parents. I understand that they are right to lifers however, if Sarah thinks it's ok to tell women that they have no right to decide, maybe she should lay off the "working their butts off" thing. There are many other women that do the same thing that Bristol is doing WITHOUT the support system and help. Maybe she'll think differently after watch her own kid go through it.

Oooohhhh..look at this. Apparently there may be more than broken STATE laws with Levi reportedly doing his GED studies and being in an apprenticeship program..there may be a broken *federal law*.

http://www.thealaskastandard.com/?q=node/226

The Governor, in trying to dispel rumors the father of her grandchild is a high school drop out, released this statement this week, "Levi is continuing his online high school work in addition to working as an electrical apprentice on the North Slope."
But federal regulations require any members of apprentice programs, union or otherwise, first obtain a high school diploma, something the Governor"s soon to be son-in-law, Levi Johnston does not have. Some apprentice programs even require the completion of high school level Algebra or the post secondary equivalent
(snip)
Bo Underwood, who heads up ASRC"s electrical apprentice program, confirmed Johnston is indeed enrolled as an apprentice. Underwood claimed not to know whether a high school diploma is needed to be an ASRC apprentice and said he would check on it. But federal regulations clearly state a high school diploma is needed before entering an apprentice program. How is it the man who runs the program does not know that?

my dad is a now retired union pipefitter/welder. UA requires ged or hs diploma. The unions are not like the service...you can't fudge that.

On the other hand.. if either of these two kids were smart enough to be accepted to a university under "Early Admission," we could all forgive Palin's fudging.
