Sarah Palin: Bristol And Levi Are "Working Their Butts Off To Parent"

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hasn't yet said anything publicly about her 4-day-old grandson, Tripp, but she does want people to know that Tripp's parents - her eldest daughter Bristol and her fiancé Levi Johnston - are hard at work and keeping up with school.

"You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time," Palin told PEOPLE in a phone message Wednesday. "They are certainly not high school dropouts."

I've been posting on ADN and Levi's HS has on-site day care facility and parenting resources. I think teen-age pregnancies are quite common in Wasilla. His HS also is on the road-kill list which means the HS is a recipient of road-kill for the meat if it becomes available.

I think back to the good ol' days of 97-98, I was a senior in high school.. One of my dearest friends was pregnant (I didn't do it *shifty eyes*) and every day she went to school to get her High school diploma.

Every single day, she showed up .. Morning sickness and all. Bloating, fatigue, Kicking baby, swollen ankles... Day in and day out she studied and learned, and prepared herself to be a mother.

She graduated, despite the fact she was pregnant and missing a lot of days in attendance. She graduated, despite the fact that the cards were kind of stacked against her.

Her boyfriend, younger than she was, also attended school.. An became very mature, and very adjusted.

Thousands of other teenagers do exactly the same thing, every day... So don't give them any benefit of the doubt.. They are a bunch of drop outs, pure and simple.. An they are eating up their stardom.

But do recall that Saint Sarah and McCain kept Bristol's pregnancy hidden until after her coronation was rolled out to the voters. So, Bristol HAD to drop out of school because the McCain campaign wanted to keep it hidden until Palin made her debut. At which point, they put the spin on it and called it a mere "unplanned pregnancy".

The county I live in voted 90% for Obama. 80% of the babies born here are from unwed mothers and the fathers are no way involved in their life. Nobody except you and I (taxpayers) are working to support them. Health Dept. here gives birth control to anybody that walks in to get it. Very few do. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue, it is sad. I think the biggest "family value" issue is the fathers that walk away and are never a part of the child's life. And before anybody asks, no I do not live in Alaska, I live in the lower 48. All 50 states have our share of rednecks and hillbillies. I think I am one. There are worse things to be.

How about you get up every 2 hours or so to change, feed, and put to sleep again a newborn--and do that for 4 days? Then complain about the phrase "working their butts off." Also do keep in mind that just 4 days ago, something the size of a watermelon just left her body through an opening normally the size of a lemon...

I did do it, twice. And those first four days were nothing compared to the next 11 years. Infant care and parenting can be interpreted as two very different acts. That's why "working their butts off to parent" after four days seems a little disingenuous.
Good for them that they're working hard. That's what all new parents who've taken on the responsibility of having a child do, whether they're famous by association or not.

The pain comes from the cervix opening, which isn't the size of a lemon. She probably opted for a C-section, due to her age. She has no job, doesn't go to school. She's got it pretty good, compared to most new moms.
