I Like ItI Don’t Like It

10 year-old student journalist Damon Weaver has already talked with "My Homeboy" Joe Biden, but with the gift of inaugural tickets from his congressman and $8,000 in donations sending him to DC, he hopes to interview Barack Obama and is continuing his media push to help his cause.

He's made a pitch video, included in the clip below, and went on MSNBC Friday with his teacher to talk about why he wants to talk to the President Elect.

Asked his feelings about Obama, Weaver said, "I'm very excited because he's the first black African-American president in the history for America."

He added that his fellow students in Florida want him to land the interview and are "very excited to see the first black president in the chair."

This is nice and hopefully he'll eventually get his interview with Obama but for now Obama has his plate running over with problems G.W. Bush has left him. The problems Obama faces are running from inside the White House to outdoors, down the streets of D.C and to every welcome sign in every state in this country. Too much right now.

Ambition is a good thing for the boy and for his school.. Good Luck... PE Obama is a role model and he will find time to meet this boy and let him interview the PE.

Obama will change America. Look here at the proof. This young Black male would never receive a mention on Huff Post or any where else.

Love this.

Damon Weaver reminds me of Marc John Jeffries

Does anybody remember him doing the PeoplePC commercials?
All I could find (Google) was this one picture of him.
There is nothing on YouTube of him.
He was so young but he was very precocious and spoke well.

Jason Linkins went to bat for you the other day Damon here on Huffpo. He said you were two scoops of ultra cool and suggested that everyone write and put in a word for you. I wrote one of the committees and will also send an email to Obama's website. (Anybody reading....since you're already typing....take a minute for the next Edward R. Murrow? )

Best of luck to Damon. He's doing his best. His parents must be so proud of him.

I really love this young guy and I admire his attitude that aims so high and does not give up.
Gotta stay focused if you want to accomplish something great.

Come on, Barack - you know you're going to say yes to Damon, so go ahead!

I'm hoping that 10-year-old Malia sees Damon's interviews and convinces her Daddy that a kid like her--same age, loves to be on TV--deserves his big break. Isn't this the kind of young boy he talks about in his stump speeches? Damon is a role model for other kids who have goals and ambitions.

Malia, tell your Daddy.. and don't let his "peeps" get in the way.

A few things...

1.) He's 10. You think this kid is going to be the one breaking the big story on Obama? Maybe he will be the one to find the ties to Blago, or maybe some corrupt Chicago deals between the questions to Obama about basketball and his favorite Power Ranger.

2.) Lot's of 10 year olds white and black have accents, speech impediments, and other quirks. He's not a force trained acting monkey, he's a 5th grader who signed up for his schools media club. Let's see some of you get on t.v. and not sound like a blustering idiot.

3.) Who cares if he calls the V.P "homeboy" Right wingers use thinly veiled racial slurs, Olberman accuses anyone he disagrees with of pretty much kicking puppies and eating babies. I think being called a "homeboy" is a term of endearment, and cutsey. See, when he talked about wanting to interview Obama he called Biden "Vice-Presedent Elect" I'm sure the kid says "sir" and "ma'am" when he is required to by courtesy, I'm sure he will when he gets the interview.

4.) YOU GUYS ARE RIPPING ON A 10 YEAR OLD!!!! Lets repeat, YOU'RE RIPPING ON A 10 YEAR OLD KID! Do you dance around cripples? Laugh at bald chemo patients? Kick puppies? What sick shallow ADULT person rips on a 10 year old kid? Oh, I know....a complete arrogant self-righteous jerk!

How sad...so many like you just spewing negativity over something pretty inspiring and positive.....what lives have you and the rest of the negative posters have had?......I can only imagine one filled with disappointments. I feel bad for you, honestly. Perhaps if you weren't so negative things would work out better for you.

i know he's a kid, but someone COULD teach him a thing or two about how to properly address elected officals......the whole "homeboy" schtick is disrespectful

and nora's condescending tone is offensive......

he's 10. jeez. maybe you could help your crush olber man to not berate, insult, and accuse of everything short of outright heresy, anyone he disagrees with and that includes those elected officials.

perpetuating this "lowering of the bar" is NOT cute......it's condescending and offensive......i would never allow my 9 year old to act like this........it's embarassing.....

I agree. I am African American and a mother of 3. My oldest child is a boy who is the same age as Damon. I also, have been turned off by Damon's lack of manners in addressing his elders. I do not want my son addressing his elders and people in position of authority the way Damon appears to in his interviews. Maybe his teacher needs to coach him on something as basic as that before campaigning for a big time interview with a very busy incoming President.
