I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Kate Hudson graces the February 2009 cover of Elle Magazine, and she talks about her ire for the paparazzi and choosing darker roles. She stars in "Bride Wars" with Anne Hathaway, out January 9.

On the paparazzi:

"They've become an entity to themselves... But eventually they'll implode. They're creating a house of cards that will inevitably fall. These are not nice people. When you're taking your child to school, and they're trying to get on school property to get a picture, it literally makes you want to just smack them."

On her acting range:

"I could be in an interview and people would keep going, 'So why do you always do romantic comedies?' Do I want to do darker roles? Of course. It has to be the right thing, though. I'm not just going to, like, make a movie that's, Oh, she's a whore, prostitute, and heroin addict."

The article also talks to Jennifer Meyer, wife of Tobey Maguire and childhood classmate of Hudson. Jennifer remembers Kate getting sent home for wearing her skirts too short in high school.

I don't know anything about the movie yet but I fear for Hudson Acting opposite Hathaway who can actually act will only bring harsh comparisons.

What I respect about Kate Hudson? Like Keira Knightly, she isn't getting breast implants.

Wow, Kate Hudson on another magazine cover? What a surprise. And as a bonus, an actual interview.

Now there's some substance. Not.

Arn't there only about 20 women that grace all magazine covers anymore? They're about interchangeable.

Another one-note wonder from Hollywood and proof that nepotism is alive and well

Why bother cultivating talent when we can pluck instant name recognition by grabbing the children? In fact, it is almost like those pod fields in the first Matrix except that instead of machines, the fields are worked by agents and studio executives.

Now, a few things come to mind:

1) Jolie and Pitt may be on their way to forming their own talent agency with only their children as clients;

2) I suspect that since Hollywood's/celebrity lifestyle is so far off the charts, the children raised in that environment couldn't cope in the real world anyway

3) Kate Hudson looks horrible in the advertisements for the bride movie. (a semi-unrelated thought to the theme of this post)
