I caught this interview on CNN, and all I can say is how charming and intelligent I found Michelle
Obama to be. Ann Coulter, be damned, I think we are going to have a very fine first lady.

Time for a real down to earth woman to be first lady, not saying that hill was not. But Michelle is a true lady and celebrated motherhood, wifedom and all that goes with it. What a shinig example!

After watching Michelle Obama's interview on Larry King I was thoroughly impressed.

This lady is dynamite.

She would make a strong case for any cause she took up.

I hope that we are able to use her talents to the fullest as well.

The Obamas are a powerhouse couple!

I think this might actually belong on lifestyle or media rather than politics.

I'm just glad Michelle's brother approved of how Barack played basketball. Where would we be now if her brother hadn't approved?

To the entire team at the United States Department of Human Resources: Nice recruiting this year!

Anyone find it interesting that during Obama's time in Washington, she has never been to his apartment?

Because they decided they would keep the childrens life as normal as possible in Chicago, and Barack shared an apt with other people and only stayed their 4 nights a week, and then went home.

I live in VA/DC and I wouldn't go to that apartment either. Obama lived like a frugal frat guy in DC. Not a place for a classy lady or children.

Because Obama was already planning on moving to 1600 and he knew he wouldnt be in that little dorm apartment for too long why have her move there.

I guess I'm alone in cringing every time she says she thought he'd be "nerdy" and was going to be "polite", but he turned out to be "cuter" than she thought.

Sorry, but that just sounds so snobby. Like she's in high school at the cool kids table and is pretty sure this guy won't be good enough for her.

In the WH, she's going to be around dozens of "nerds". I'm glad she'll be "polite" to them anyway.

Not impressed by her "too good for him" narrative (heard it many times now, too).

C'mon now. In life, we find that someone just "rubs us the wrong way". You don't have to grasps at straws for your dislike of the future first lady. Her impressions were genuine and understandable. What person listening to that would think, "She thinks she's too good for him." Sounds to me like someone has some unresolved issues from their dating history.

she is speaking of her impression of him when she was in her 20s..after all she was just out of college so when she met him.

Okay, but she tells the story the same way all the time. His version is that she'd gotten discouraged with dating and had pretty much given up on men. I think her version would be improved by talking more modestly about herself..

Bottom line: I was surprised Michelle would negatively stereotype someone before even meeting him--and negatively stsreotype him because he was well-educated.

If you've ever heard her brother speak about her, you might have heard him say that she modeled her standards for men she would date after her late father; who, was not an educated sophisticated type, but a blue collar hard-working South Chicago regular average joe, but with high standards and expectations for his children. He also happened to be a larger than life figure for her.

Her brother said he felt sorry for Barack when he first met, him because he knew what Michelle's expectations of men were based on her dating history. I guess what I'm trying to say is, her high-expectations 'attitude' that you seem to be perceiving as a snobbish thing is really borne out of her blue-collar roots rather than an elitist thing, and if anything, she's often stated that she also considers herself to be the 'nerdy' type.
