I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah called late Saturday on Hamas to "defeat Israel and kill as many Israeli soldiers as they can."

"Hamas will defeat Israel in the ground attack," Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah told his followers in Beirut's southern suburbs during the Shiite religious ceremony of Ashoura.

The destruction of Israel is the goal of Hamas and Hezbullah. Giving the Palestinians their own state won't change that. Many of you don't even understand the history of the Palestinians, and where they really came from and what they want now. Yet you sit in judgement of Israel but don't offer alternative solutions to them. Try to be objective and see both sides. I know I am wasting my breath saying this but I doubt you can understand what it is like to be a tiny little country in the middle of an area where everyone hates you and wants you gone. Some of you sound incredibly naive and give your comments without even trying to see it from both sides.

One can argue that the destruction of the Palestinians is the goal of Israel, that giving the Jews their own state won't change that, and to say anything contrary is naive.

The problem with your statements is not that they are wrong, but that they apply equally to Israelis and to Palestinians. Too many on both sides think that they are justified in treating their "enemy" with contempt and inhumanity, and too many on both sides do no want peace.

Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran and Syria, has close links with Hamas

Look's like Hamas' plan is working for them.

Now why would Hezbollah say such a thing?

Understand one thing ..that terorists like hamas, hazebollah, talibans only respect force ..one can not negotiate anything with them ..either u destroy them or just have to go theu these type of actions every 4-5 years ...gaza palestianinas elected hamas & now they are paying the price for it ...Just like we elected Bush 2 times & paid the price ..the clueless citizens vote against their own interests all over the world ..& we deserve the consequences of our actions ...until we learn that ..we will be back with republicans just a question of time ...
Gaza palestinians shoud recognize that keeping Hamas in their midst will lead to their sufferings ...On the west bank, palestinians dont have such problems ,,They are better off...

Talk is cheap, but I note that Hezbullah hasn't come to Hamaz's aid by opening up a second front in the north. If they started a missle attack from the north while Israel's troops are bogged down in the Gaza strip, Israel would be in deep s**t.

But while Israel failed to win a military victory against Hezbullah, which is stronger than ever in Lebanon, Hezbullah got their noses bloodied badly enough to not do this.

I think I has planned for that.

..and why should it?

there will come a time when America is no longer useful to Israel where will it then turn...actions have consequences and when you oversimplify it as you seem to...it shows the lack of knowledge u have on the matter

Not a peep from the U.N. on these matters!

The US has silenced the UN, and they could not even achieve concensus for a press release.

Well they have to defend themselves, but this just shows the absurdity of the situation. It just unites the enemies against I S R A E L. This will never end militarily, we learned that in I R A Q. You need to feed and care for the P A L A S T I N I A N S, H A M A S did that, it's how they took power. Fix that and you have a better chance at fixing the entire situation...

The headline is interesting.

Hezbollah is said to be encouraging Hamas to kill Israeli soldiers.
The Israeli soldiers are invading to stop Hamas from killing Israeli civilians.
If Hamas would stop trying to kill Israeli civilians with their rockets, the IDF would withdraw, and there would be no opportunity for Hamas to try to kill Israeli soldiers.
If Israel would stop trying to topple Hamas, the democratically elected government of Gaza, with their economic and humanitarian blockades, there would be less incentive to fire rockets into Israel in retaliation.

There is plenty of blame to go around, but at this time I would have to conclude that the Israeli blockade is more to blame for causing the war than Hamas' rockets. If someone blockaded our country, we also would consider striking back.

And if someone said your country has no right of existence, would you trust them?

There is trust, and there are acts of war. At the foundation of international relations is the assumption that peoples will act in their own self interest.

Is an economic blockade with the announced intention of toppling the government not an act of war?

In comparison, if we not only refused to trade with Cuba, but actively enforced a blockade, so that no one else could trade with them, would it not be considered a step on the path to active hostilities? When confronted with the blockade, Gazans had to choose between letting Israel choose their government, or resisting.

No country can enforce a blockade without expecting either resistance or capitulation. What words come out of Cuba and the U.S., or Gaza and Israel, are far less important than the actions and reactions of the two parties involved.

The U.S. and Cuba have tolerated the exchange of harsh and intolerant words for more than four decades without resorting to warfare. At this point we may accuse each other of many things, from childishness to untrustworthiness, but thankfully we have not resorted to killing each other's peoples. At the very least, it would be progressive if Gaza and Israel could stop trying to interfere in the political internal affairs of the other, and that step might lead to the end of hostilities.

Israel gave Gaza back to the Palestinians in the hopes the rocket attacks would stop. They didn't.
At this point, trying to figure out whether the chicken or egg came first is a futile exercise.

Fading into the background is how you wage guerrilla war.

If you think Israel is going to destroy Hamas with this incursion you will be sorely disappointed.

There is no military solution.

Expressed in terms of the number of lives of Israeli soldiers lost, would it not have been less costly in the long run to have patiently found a way to corrupt Hamas, thereby exctracting concessions and discrediting them in the eyes of Palestinians?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:50 AM on 01/04/2009

Yeah, you're right. Allow them to continue launching rockets indiscriminately into the Israeli population for no reason other than to inflict as much human suffering as they possibly can. No intent on military targets, just to kill as many Israeli targets as possible. Yeah, that's how you win a conflict. Allow your enemy to continue to inflict damage to your country unanswered and embolden not just them but your other allies into thinking that you won't act. Do you think before speaking? Its a Catch 22. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Either you do nothing and allow them to continue attacking you hoping that the rest of the world will think they're the bad ones or you go in there and take out their ability to attack you. If someone were throwing bombs at your house, would you stay home hoping that eventually they'd stop or would you cross the street and take away their bombs?
